Essay on Women´s Right Activism
Jane Austen, a well known author in the early 1800s, advocated for the dignity, intelligence, and
basic human potential of the female sex, but feminists think of a separate, specific event as kicking
off women s rights activism (Rampton). In July of 1848, the first meeting that had ever addressed
women s rightsexclusively took place in Seneca Falls, New York. Over 300 men and women came
to the convention, and this started the first wave of feminismin which American women fought for
the right to vote. The second wave fought for freedom of sexuality while the third wave, which is
currently taking place, fights against America s raunch or sexually driven culture in order to lessen
the burden of oppression and isms of people other than... Show more content on [Link] ...
The second wave of feminism included the Stonewall riots in which men at a gay bar resisted the
fairly frequent police raids one night and fought back, as well as Roe v. Wade, 1973, in which
Jane Roe fought for the right to an abortion while being pregnant but unmarried. Abortion laws are
still debated about this day, as are homosexuals in most areas of the country. Finally, the third
wave takes place from the late 90s into present day. This wave covers a lot of information, but is
mostly about the negative impact media has on our society. It is about how everyone is self
conscious of their body type (all sexes, women to be unhealthily skinny and men to be body
builders), raunch culture (sexualized American culture and objectification, such as pornography how
some women think it s revolting and others believe it is liberating), our views on sexuality as a
culture (LGBTQ rights), and how women may be repeating history. Many feminists believe women
are objectifying themselves by heavily wearing make up and exposing their bodies in revealing
clothing, thus putting heterosexual men into the position or making it easier for them to look at
women all that much more (Rampton). The second and third wave intertwine because even today,
we as a nation have not completely settled the inequalities with gender, sexuality, or social ethics.
Feminism is equality for all, especially for strict gender roles
Dbq Treaty Of Versailles
Many factors contribute to a group of people failing to accomplish a goal, but the stubbornness of
participants often is a leading cause. The Senate s failure to ratify the Treaty of Versailles in 1919
shows this idea, due to the feud between President Woodrow Wilson and the Internationalists, and
Henry Cabot Lodge and the Reservationists. The Internationalists fully supported the passing of the
Treaty of Versailles, whereas the Reservationists believed it was necessary to change the Treaty,
specifically Article Ten. Similarly, Borah and the Irreconcilables believed that the League of Nations
was in conflict with one of the ideals the nation was founded on; to not engage in foreign
entanglements. As Senator William Borah, put it, the League... Show more content on

The Republicans resisted the Treaty because they believed that if it were to be ratified, Wilson s
prestige would soar and he might even be re elected for a third time (Bailey, 184). Thus, the
Republican Party was against the Treaty of Versailles in its original form out of fear. Wilson fully
believed that the Treaty was going to bring world peace, and regardless of this belief, the
Republican Party voted against it because of who came up with it. Wilson fought greatly for it
and said that if the Treaty failed that he would gather all the soldiers who fought in World War
One and tell them I told you before you went across the seas that this was a war against wars and I
did my best to fulfill the promise, but I am obliged to come to you in mortifications and shame
and say I have not been able to fulfill the promise, (Wilson). Wilson was willing to take blame for
the hypothetical failure of the Treaty of Versailles and the Republicans still voted against it
because they did not want Wilson s popularity to go up. Wilson believed so strongly in Article Ten
that he believed that the League of Nations would justify the United States honor and bring peace
to the world (Wilson). The belief that the Republican Party did not ratify the Treaty because they
did not want to risk another Wilson presidency is absurd. This idea perpetuates the idea that if one
person, in a position of power, strongly believes in something, then it must good. One can apply
this idea to how strongly Wilson believed in the Treaty of Versailles, yet it was not enough to
convince the Senate that the League of Nations Collective Security Covenant was a good idea. It
was not the Republican Party s fear of a third term of Wilson that caused the death of the Treaty, but
Wilson himself. The belief that if
Ruth And Babe Ruth
Many would say baseball, America s pastime, is dead; furthermore, there are those who say that the
professional athletes are no longer our role models. Athletes are said to have no respect, dignity, or
love for the [Link] critics who state that, have never been to a Major League Baseball stadium.
Yankee Stadium, where an entire organization reminds you from the moment you step in the park
that there still are those things in every single game played by each team. Not only is the sport alive
and well, but honor, love, respect, and dignity are exemplified through all competitive teams.

Baseball use to be one of the best games to play and watch as Americans. Being one of the first
professional sports, it represented who we are as a country. Through baseball, it showed the honor
and respect athletes and fans have for this country. However, this sport seems to be gradually
disappearing to something athletes got paid to do; though, throughout baseball s long life, there are
many athletes who still care about the game. All the way from the early 1900s, with Babe Ruth or
Lou Gehrig, to the more present times, with Jose Fernandez, David Ortiz, or Derek Jeter, they bring
back the deceased game and put meaning into it, making it the most enjoyable it has ever been.

Babe Ruth was arguably one of the best players known. He showed up to every ball park, playing
that game as if it were his last. Ruth exemplified dignity and love throughout his many years of
baseball. Being
Emma Rossus The New Colossus
Emma Lazarus poem The New Colossus possesses one of the most iconic and famous phrases
that are undeniably a huge part in American history and literature. Lazarus uses multiple ways to
convey different types of imagery to her readers. Her poem transformed the Statue of Liberty into
a symbol of hope for immigrants battling oppression in their own country. The lines within the
poem, Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free (10 11) is
something that expresses a new and warm beacon of hope for both native and new Americans alike.
In Emma Lazarus poem The New Colossus, she compares the Statue of Liberty of the United States
to the statue from the Roman and Greek era, The Colossus of Rhodes, a bronze statue of the Greek
God Helios which was erected on the Greek island of Rhodes from 226 BCE until 282 BCE (M.
Snodgrass). Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame with conquering limbs astride from land to
land (1 2) writes Lazarus. The statue The Colossus of Rhodes allows Lazarus to distinguish the post
of the Statue of Liberty with the typical archetypal statue of ancient Greece. Lazarus description of
the soon to be build statue of liberty conveys imagery that instills a sense of welcoming hospitality
within its readers unlike some statues of ancient... Show more content on [Link] ...
Lazarus writes, ...With a torch, whose flame is the imprisoned lightning, and ... from her beacon
hand, glows world wide welcome...I lift my lamp beside the golden door! (5 14). The imagery that
Lazarus successfully conveys is that the torch in hand represents a light in the midst of darkness, a
light to follow toward the land of opportunity for newcomers, and opportunity that may be
accessible through a golden door. Lazarus uses the golden door to represent a passageway into
opportunities and hopes and dreams many immigrants harbored as they disembarked at Ellis

Personality Reflection Paper
Personality is a fascinating construct, and the number of different ways to measure and define
personality are many. One of the models that I believe helps to provide a framework for me to
define and describe my past experiences within the context of personality theory is based on the
traits of Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion/Introversion, Agreeableness, and
Neuroticism. As I reflect on my personality in early life and as I think about my personality today,
it seems that much of my personality has stayed the same. While some may argue that this would
mean that there are strong and extremely salient genetic contributions to my personality, I think
that my environment also helped to shape me into the person I am today. Extroversion has
always been one of my biggest personality facets. I was the gregarious child who sat on the
preschool teacher s leg during story time, the class clown in elementary school, and the one who
made friends with all of the different cliques that were ubiquitous in my high school. Some would
say that this is genetically influenced to a large degree because both of my parents are also
extremely extroverted and they enjoy social gatherings and large groups of people. However, in
looking at my history, I see that the environment was ripe for social connectedness and being
social was familiar and expected. If I was naturally extroverted (genetics), and grew up in a house
of introverts who watched television and read books in the evenings instead of having dinner
parties, I think that my extraversion would not be my strongest trait. Another strong personality
trait of mine is my openness. As a child, I wanted to be everywhere and see everything. As a
rambunctious child, I learned and explored, and as an adult, I do this, but in different ways.
Overall, I do not think my personality has changed to a large degree since childhood, but my
environment has definitely helped to keep some of my strong traits in check. As reported, both
nature and nurture shaped my early life and developmental years of my personality. While I view
nature as being those traits and characteristics passed down from my parents through their genes, I
think of nurture as the environment in which I was raised,

Revolutions in 1917. The first Russian Revolution to be investigated will be the February
Revolution wherein the poor living conditions and the dissent among the people of Russia led to the
collapse of the Romanov dynasty and the rise of the Provisional Government. The second Russian
Revolution to be investigated will be the Bolshevik Revolution which occurred after the failure of
the provisional government to improve the living conditions in Russiaand led to the Bolsheviks
claiming power of Russia in October. Memoirs and university level history books will be the main

World War I was first met by a public surge of patriotism, but as time passed, the mood quickly
turned sour. The Russian army was heavily outclassed by the German army. Their supply and
medical systems were very primitive, communications weak, inexperienced leadership, and
aviation far inferior to that of the Germans. After the Brusilov offensive wherein the Russians
tried to attack instead of just defending, resulted in mass bloodshed with over 2 million men killed
and 350,000 people captured, support for the war was shattered within the ranks of the army. The
war had lasted for a long period of time causing more shortages [see appendix iii] and inflation in
food prices. However, Nicholas would not end the war no matter how many people protested
against it. In the winter months of 1917, inflation advanced at such a fast pace [see appendix i]
that the working population s wages were unable to keep up. Then on February 8, International
Women s Day, demonstrations by female workers in the Vyborg district had brought a large
crowd. By the next day, the group had swelled to 200,000 people and massive riots ensued. The
army was called in to deal with the situation, but they were sick of the war and shot their officers
and joined the revolt. This was considered to be a spontaneous and leaderless revolution because the
Bolsheviks were mostly exiled from

BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND PROBLEM DESCRIPTION

The given mentioned research paper basically features the implementation of process improving
Lean Manufacturing methodologies especially Value Stream Mapping (VSM) in a auto part
manufacturer located in outskirts of Ludhiana, Punjab, India which has 300 employees and 0.33
million dollar annual turnover. Now a days with ever increasing competition it has become

Lean Manufacturing tools in large industries or organizations. But in most of the nations Small and
Medium Enterprises(SME) are backbone for nation s economical growth. Hence it become more
important for those industries to nurture and flourish not at organizational level but at global phase.
The said organization is fabricating 10 different variety of products. Weldon Ball end and

The Complex And Interesting Optical Properties
1. Introduction

The complex and interesting optical properties can be shown clearly on Nanostructured metals the
collective oscillations of the conduction electrons termed plasmons lead to most striking
phenomenon encountered in these structures are resonances . Plasmon modes exist in a number of
geometries and in various metals most importantly in noble metals such as gold, copper and silver.
Under certain circumstances plasmons are excited by light, which leads to strong light scattering and
absorption and an enhancement of the local electromagnetic field. In 1989, based upon calculations,
Neeves and Birnboim proposed that a composite spherical particle with a dielectric core and a
metallic shell could produce SPR modes with a much ... Show more content on [Link] ...
The interest in plasmon modes dates back to the beginning of the 20th century, but recent advances
in structuring, manipulating and observing on the nanometer scale have revitalized this field even
though these technological advances were at first driven by the increasing demand for a
semiconductor based integrated electronic components, optical applications are now receiving
increasing attention. Guiding light in an integrated optical system and interfacing with electronic
components remain important challenges for research and development today. Nanostructures
metals are believed to be one of the key ingredients of such future optoelectronic devices.

1.1 Plasma
Plasma is a distinct phase of matter, separate from the traditional solids, liquids, and gases. It is a
collection of charged particles that respond strongly and collectively to electromagnetic fields, taking
the form of gas like clouds or ion beams. Since the particles in plasma are electrically charged
(generally by being stripped of electrons), it is frequently described as an ionized gas. [1] so that the
electrons and ions are separately free. When does this ionization occur? When the temperature is hot
enough.
Persuasive Essay On Obesity
provoke Americans from purchasing them. Obesity could be stopped if citizens chose better
drinks in fact , obesity rates could be reduced by 1 to 4 percentage points if sugary beverages are
taxed moderately (Sahadi). By putting a tax on these beverages Americans will be less likely to
buy them. Although the percentage change is not that high it will prevent many citizens in
choosing this unhealthy lifestyle. A risk that could result from being obese is diabetes. Diabetes
is a common disease in the U.S. today, for the average child born today, there is a 50/50 chance, if
lifestyles do not change, that they will develop Type 2 diabetes or other physical diseases and
conditions that are associated with being overweight ( 11 pros ). Give a child the best
opportunity they could have. Kids deserve to be fed the right food and beverage choices, so they
will be prevented from the high risk of diabetes. Everyone should be cautious on the amount of
soda they consume, one study, for example, found for every can of soda a person drinks per day,
he or she is 30 percent more likely to become obese increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes,
and other diseases (Blanding). Soda is a huge leading cause to health effects. Anytime a human
decides to put soda into their bodies they are putting themselves at risk. Soda contains way too many
sugars that are not beneficial to the human body, these drinks have very little, if any, healthy
ingredients in them and now there is a strong
The Contributions Of Death In Dante s Inferno
In the Inferno, Dante journeys along the path that will eventually lead him to God by first passing
through Hell. As he goes through his journey in Hell with Virgil, Dante encounters several sinners
who are being punished based upon the sins each individual committed. Dante s attitude towards the
sinners punishment changes from sympathy to hostility as he goes through his path towards God.
At first, Dante is to feeling sympathy for the souls that reside in the Second Circle of Hell, whose
punishment is to be constantly blown by wind. These sinners are punished specifically for lust.
Many individual souls are named by Virgil, but Dante starts to show signs of sympathy when
Francesca voluntarily steps forward to explain her love story with... Show more content on

I agree with Poggiolo s statement involving sympathy for Francesca because this means that even
though Dante feels sympathy for both Francesca and Paolo, it does not erase the fact that they
did commit the sin of adultery. Dante can feel sorry for their situation, but there is no way he can
forgive them of the sin they committed. God did put them there so no matter how much pity
Dante feels for them there is nothing he could do about their punishment in Hell. As Dante travel
deeper along Hell, he needs to become stronger to complete his journey. In the beginning of his
journey, he encounters sinners who did not commit a sin as bad as the sinners in the Ninth Circle
of Hell. That is why he feels sympathetic to Francesca and Paolo, who is in the Second Circle of
Hell. Now that he is at the last Circle of Hell, he needs to be fiercer and stronger to get through his
journey. Virgil says to Dante that Thy soul attained is with cowardice, / Which many times a man
encumbers so, / it turns him back from honored enterprise (Canto II, 45 46). Virgil is helping
Dante become more courageous in his journey, which leads him to become hostile. Dante arrives in
the Ninth Circle of Hell which is known to harbor traitors. The punishment for theses traitors is to
be frozen in a lake to represent the coldness of their hearts and how they do not have any feelings of
remorse for betraying others and their own families. The traitors being frozen and
