3.1.4 Singapore Market

In 2008, the economy is expected to weaken slightly. As the US is coping with its economic
problems, with the possibility of oil prices increasing, if the US goes into a serious recession, this
will definitely affect the Asian region and Singapore will be greatly affected. If the US was to suffer
a serious recession in its economy, it will most likely drag Singapore s GDP growth in the upper
half if the 4.5 6.5 per cent forecast range This situation will be clearer in the first quarter of 2008.

As Singapore is not very advanced in such products such as the Vuzix eyewear, and taking into
account the decline in Singapore s economy, only a minority of the population would even consider
purchasing the Vuzix eye wear. Its cost may be a crucial deterrent to what the average Singaporean
can afford because of the higher cost of living for example the increase in GST to
The Hiding Place Essay
The Inspiring Legacy of Corrie ten Boom
We must tell people, Corrie. We must tell them what we learned, said Betsie. The Hiding Place,
by Corrie ten Boom, is the biography of a woman in Holland during the Holocaust. The book
starts out in 1937, in Haarlem, Holland. Corrie and her family were Christians who hid Jews from
persecution by the German soldiers. Corrie was forced to make decisions and take actions all
throughout different periods in her life. When her mother fell ill, she learned to care for someone
who couldn t do anything for her. During the time when the family was hiding the Jews, she was
forced to be brave and strong. Finally, when her family was taken to the concentration camps, Corrie,
with the help of her sister ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Reluctantly but bravely, Corrie told a lie when asked whether or not they had more than one
radio. She answered with No, when in fact another was hidden in their home. The ten Booms
learned to trust in God when faced with fear, and He helped them to be brave during the
underground period. Despite their efforts, the ten Boom family was captured and taken to
concentration camps, although the Jews in the house were not found. Casper, Corrie s father, died
ten days later, and Nollie was released eventually, but Betsie and Corrie stayed imprisoned.
Unfortunately, they were subjected to horrific conditions, and they witnessed the deaths of many
innocent people. For many people, the concentration camp would have been the end of their work,
but for Corrie and Betsie the months they spent in Ravensbrück became their finest hour. Corrie
described how she struggled with and overcame the hate that she had for the man who betrayed her
family. Holding secret worship services, Corrie and Betsie were able to comfort the inmates and
share the love of Christ. Although Betsie eventually died of sickness, Corrie was able to continue
her legacy within the concentration camps and beyond, in her ministry. The Hiding Place is a
fascinating story of Corrie ten Boom during the Holocaust, who overcame fear, pain, and tragedy
with the help of her family and God. Selflessly, she cared for
Dbq Aztec Agriculture
Food is a big part of everyday life. People need to eat food to survive, because without food a
person will die. In the Aztec civilization there are two cultural practices that stand out. These are:
human sacrifice and agriculture. Many historians have a mutual disagreement over which one
should be emphasized over the other; which practice deserves more attention. Here are three reasons
why agriculture should be more emphasized than human sacrifice: agriculture was crucial for
everyday living, it was well organized/ cleverly constructed, and it played a huge role in Aztecculture.

The Aztecs, just like any living being needed food to survive. Agriculture provided food since it
was the practice of farming and became crucial. The Aztec farmers did not only grow food for
themselves, but also enough for their entire cities, like Tenochtitlan (Doc B). This played a major
role in trade and the economy. The farmers used Chinampas which were small mounds of land that
were very fertile ( they are still being used today in Mexico City) to farm. Agriculture did not only
help the Aztec people but also many people that they traded with. Agriculture helped the Aztecs
develop and expand as a civilization/empire. This is why agriculture should be ... Show more content

They had developed islands that were seventeen feet wide and three hundred feet long (Doc B).
These islands were floating and the Aztecs used the roots of willow trees to anchor them down
(Doc B). The Aztecs used natural irrigation and resources to farm off of for their families and
empire. These systems are still used today and are quite successful. The strategies were that
advanced. By being organized, the Aztec civilization flourished and thrived for many years. The
empire expanded tremendously and lasted a very long time. Human sacrifice did not help expand
nor flourish the
Essay On My Brother Sam Is Dead
War Is Never Right
But somehow, fifty years later, I keep thinking that there might have been another way, besides
war, to achieve the same end (Collier and Collier 211). The quote shows how there could possibly
be another way to solve the British and Patriots argument. In James and Christopher Collier s
historical fiction book, My Brother Sam Is Dead, the story takes place during the American
Revolution which occurred in 1775. To many people in the book, both sides believe that war is
always unfair. War could tear families or people apart or bring them together as a group to fight. The
Patriots fight for their own freedom by revolting and creating the American Revolution. In the
historical fiction novel, My Brother Sam Is Dead, there ... Show more content on [Link] ...
Both sides to Tim are bad in both ways. Finally, when Mr. Meeker did not allow Sam to take the
Brown Bess to fight with, Sam stole the gun. Sam disobeyed his father and Tim tries to take it
back. Tim kept on trying to persuade Sam to give the gun back to Mr. Meeker, but he keeps
ignoring Tim s request. When Tim tries to steal the gun from Sam, Sam immediately found out
and chased after Tim. When Sam caught up to Tim, Tim started to blackmail and said that he
would shoot the gun at Sam if he got closer. Don t come any closer, Sam, or I ll shoot you (Collier
and Collier 55). This shows that even war can tear the two brothers that love each other apart.
Families can still be teared apart from any type of war.
Another reason why the authors are against war is due to the clash of generations. During the
American Revolution, Yale students would go to get weapons and they would join the war. The
younger adults believe that they should join the war to fight for freedom. Yale students did rush
away to get weapons and join the war in 1775 (Collier and Collier 214). These college students are
sacrificing their lives to fight for their own freedom. On the other hand, the adults say that war is
bad and that no one should fight. Grownups believe that it is not worth it to fight for their own
freedom. Many people say that war is unfair or not worth it. I think men of common sense will
prevail. Nobody wants rebellion except fools and hotheads (Collier and Collier 6). Mr.
Descartes Theory Of Reasoning
After first explaining Antoine Arnauld s objection to Descartes circular reasoning, I will be
presenting a response given by Descartes. Then I will attempt to consider, on behalf of Arnauld, if
the response is of adequacy, then I shall decide which view offers the best account. I suspect,
however, that no matter what kind of response Descartes is to give, nothing will be able to save him
from the torment of the so called Cartesian circle .

In objection to Descartes reasoning behind his attempt to establish that what is true, is clear and
distinct perception, Antoine Arnauld argues his reasoning is circular (Arnauld AT VII 124 125).
Before explaining why circularity is evident, I will first consider what Descartes truth rule really
consists of. After establishing cogito ergo sum , Descartes uses the same logical terminology in
which the cogito was established, to attempt to find other truths in the external world (Descartes AT
VII 35). However, as there is no causality between cogito and external truths, some further proof is
required for Descartes. This is at the point Descartes introduces the argument for Gods existence and
hence, we get the truth rule established. He argues that, God exists and is not a deceiver, in which
case any clear and distinct ideas must be true (Descartes AT VII 52). This is where the problem of
circularity arises, as Descartes assumes the idea of God to be true because it is innate, clear and
distinct, and then sets out to assume other
Patriotism In Julius Caesar
Effectiveness of Patriotism

Being Patriotic is a great thing until it goes bad. Over the course of the play The Tragedy of
Julius Caesar, Brutus was a very impactful character. He was one of the main leaders of the
conspiracy that killed Caesar. Brutus had a wife named Portia, who later in the play died. After the
conspiracy killed Caesar, there were two speeches spoken one from Brutus and the other from
Antony who was Caesar s right hand man. Soon after the death of Caesar, Brutus and Antony fought
in a battle against each other. The battle lead to countless people left dead and Brutus kills himself.
During the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare Brutus patriotism
caused him to make decisions based on the good of Rome, not thinking of others thoughts, or
opinions including his own. Brutus made an overwhelming amount of decisions based on the good
of Rome, not contemplating how it could affect or hurt himself or those around him. One example
of this is after Brutus and the conspirators killed Brutus he gave a speech. In this speech he said, If
then that friend demand why/ Brutus rose against Caesar, this is my answer: Not/ that I loved
Caesar less, but that I loved Rome more. (3.2.20 22). This quote is saying that the reason Brutus
killed Caesar was not because he disliked him, but because he thought it was for the good of Rome.
Brutus made this decision solely based on patriotism. He never thought about the effects or
consequences it

Analysis Of The Song Stink ! Stank ! Stunk !
It is almost like this song was meant to correlate with all of the negative aspects of this school
year. The song overall is very amusing, but you find negative aspects when you single out specific
lines. There are three lines in specific that are the easiest to relate to. They are; I wouldn t touch you
with a thirty nine and a half foot pole , Three words that best describe you are as follows and I
quote, Stink! Stank! Stunk! , and You re a mean one, Mr. Grinch . After interpretation, every student,
including myself, in this entire school has experienced these things.
My first example is I wouldn t touch you with a thirty nine and a half foot pole . The way I
interpreted this song was to refer to the grinch as our school and student
Rumours, by Fleetwood Mac Essay
In 1977, when Fleetwood Mac released their multi platinum album Rumours, I was 4 years old
and far too young to appreciate music. As I entered my mid 20s, I had acquired a passion for
music of the 1970s and fell in love with the Eagles, Rush, Led Zeppelin, but most importantly,
Fleetwood Mac. Their music had become a part of me. It had developed into my personal therapeutic
outlet and helped to keep me sane during any emotional upheaval that I might have been
experiencing. It was then that I realized that the passionate, heartfelt music of Fleetwood Mac
captured the very being of my soul and I became entranced. At any point of the day, whether at home
or driving in my car, you could catch me listening to any one of their many albums.... Show more

There was not a single song on the album that did not come to life and cause all of us to relate to
every emotion within their songs. When listening to Go Your Own Way one hears the lyrics,
Loving you isn t the right thing to do. / How can I ever change things that I feel? / If I could baby
I d give you my world. / How can I when you won t take it from me? / You can go your own way,
go your own way. These lyrics capture your soul. They speak of the pain that accompanies the
demise of a relationship. On the other hand, Don t Stop provokes feelings of hope and optimism
instead of wallowing in the past. The entire playlist of Rumors causes lovers to reflect upon their
own past heartbreak and relate. The album s ability to make that kind impression on a person s
heart makes it phenomenal. We all desire to be able to relate to others and to feel understood. Once
we make that connection, it remains with us always.
Moreover, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, Rumours was certified
platinum in America and in the UK within months of its release ( RIAA: Gold Platinum ).
Furthermore, the album spent 31 weeks on top of the Billboard charts and won the Grammy award
Album of the Year in 1978 ( Christgau, Robert. Christgau s Record Guide ) ( Grammy Rewind ).
Additionally, as of this year, it is the 10th best selling album in US History ( Diamond Awards.

Seven Deadly Sins Canterbury Tales Analysis
It would seem that everyone is guilty of at least one of the seven deadly sins in some shape or
form. The Pilgrims of The Canterbury Tales are not strangers to sin, and questionable motives that
may or may not clash with their professions or individual stereotypes. The Canterbury Tales follows
a group of pilgrims set out on a long journey to the CanterburyCathedral in London. The characters,
whom are supposed to follow certain rules and morals in the poem, can exhibit traits of the seven
deadly sins, transgressions which are fatal to spiritual progress. (Shannon). The first notable sinis

The Wife of Bath is the most obvious pilgrim for this particular sin because of the fact that she has
had multiple husbands, and perhaps even more men in her youth. She had five husbands, all at the
church door, apart from other company in youth; (Chaucer 109).
The fifth sin is Envy, defined as wanting to be someone else because of the qualities and/or
possessions a person has. Instead of honoring the life one has, they dishonor what they were
given by being dissatisfied with it. The Nun can be found envious by her behavior. She wears
makeup, although she shouldn t be concerned about her physical appearance because she chose a
life to help others. She does this in efforts to get attention from men, when nuns pledge themselves
only to God. Her nose was elegant, her eyes glass gray; Her mouth was very small, but soft, and red.
Her forehead, certainly, was fair of spread, almost a span across the brows, I own (Chaucer 101).
The sixth sin is Gluttony, described as not being satisfied with what one has, and wanting more.
The Summoner is a great example of the sin Gluttony because he eats and drinks until he cannot
take anymore. He even carries garlic and onions on his person at all times because he enjoys them
so much. Garlic he loved, and onions too, and leeks, and drinking. Strong wine till all was hazy

The final sin is Pride, which is where
Diversity Judicial System Analysis
In this essay I will define what is judiciary and be discussing the statement that there is a strong
case for more diverse judiciary. Not only should there be equality of opportunity for those entitled
to apply . I will discuss about the judiciary that reflect the diversity and legal profession as whole,
make reference to the role of the judiciary, their selection, and training.

Judiciary is a system that interprets and execute the laws in the state, the role of the judiciary is to
supervise the conduct of a trial, sole arbiter of legal issues, has the power to deal with civil cases
and decide the result, interpret and clarify the law, has the right to deal with criminal cases and to
sum up to the jury and to pass sentence on those who plead guilty or have been convicted.

For many centuries the House of Lords was the supreme court of appeal for the entire UK in civil
cases and for England, Wales and Northern Ireland in criminal case. There are three types of legal
system in the United Kingdom and these are executive, government and legislature; one each for
England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. There was a time where Scotland, Ireland and later
Northern Ireland retained the Acts of Union in 1707 and 1800.

Nader s Democratic Party
Primarily, Democrats who supported Gore in the 2000s see Nader and the Green Party as the
leading cause to Gore s loss in the election, primarily due to the spoiler effect (where two similar
candidates running for an office results in one siphoning votes from the other) caused by Nader.
Nader, known as a political activist and liberal similar to Gore, was accused of taking potential votes
away from Gore in states where Gore lost to Bush by low margins, such as Florida and New
Hampshire, where Nader s ~97,000 and ~22,000 votes would have compensated for Gore s defeats
of 537 and ~7,000 votes to Bush respectively (Rosenbaum). Democrats during this period primarily

While other parties did also make a comparable difference when looking at Gore vs. Bush in
Florida, the Green Party had the greatest influence and lead over other third parties in the election
when looking at more hyperbolic claims by Gore supporting democrats or analytical studies of
Florida third party voters, and Nader s efforts to essentially defeat a corrupt system, along with his
appeal to a more liberal America seemed to help aid in this influence. Furthermore, the Green Party s

though the Green Party was unlikely to win the election, it had great prowess among the American
people, and was virtually known by most American voters in the
Essay On Teeportation Portal
A teleportation portal was levitating in the sky. It resembled a multicolored vortex spinning rapidly
around its axis. A teleportation portal was pretty common in the world of Asteron. It linked two
distant locations and allowed anyone to travel instantly between them. Such a portal could link two
places which could be very distant form each other. But this portal was different from the others as it
had something special about it. It was not its blood redcolor as the portals could have any random
color, nor was it the sound it produced which was like a faint buzzing sound making the air vibrating
around it. Teleportationportal didn t normally emit any sound but there were always exceptions. No,
what was different about this portal was its size. It was enormous, as if it covered the entire sky.

Long time had passed since the world of Asteron had seen a portal like this. The last record
mentioning a portal this huge was from ancient times, the times of legends and whenever it
appeared, a huge calamity would follow. Several seconds after its formation, the portal shook
violently and ejected something. It was a ... Show more content on [Link] ...
