Buchi Emecheta And Africa Nwapa Analysis
Race and Ethnicity of Afro African Indigenous People:
A Study of Selected Novels of Buchi Emecheta and Flora Nwapa
G. Sankar
The union of man and woman is universally and socially acknowledged by the institution of
marriage. It is one of the oldest rituals to be practiced even today in every parts of the world.
Marriage is an important part of the traditional African society and is one of the largely reflected
issues in African literature. According to Lauretta Ngcobo, in her essay entitled African Motherhood
Myth and Reality which appeared in Criticism and Ideology: Second African Writers Conference,
Stockholm 1986 edited by Kirsten H. Petersen, the concept of marriage in African context is similar
with any other community:
As elsewhere, marriage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But what makes Emecheta a balanced writer is that she maintains a perfect equilibrium between her
emotions and intellectualism, never idealizes her African traditional customs and beliefs which put
enormous pressure upon the woman relegating her to the margin. Chikwenye Okonjo Ogunyemi, in
this regard, states that Emecheta deals mainly with the black woman as the victim of black patriarchy
(1985: 67). She captures every detail of the traditional customs that makes womankind a victim.
As for instance, the practice of polygamy in which African man like Okonkwo appear as symbolic
representation of male hegemony which leaves the African women like Ma Blackie and Aku nna
with no voice of their own as well as the malpractices of cutting of lock of hair of the women and
declaring them as wives by the traditional African men. Women have been represented as the
weaker sex or the second sex and stereotyped with negative qualities such as sensitive, emotional,
fragile, indecisive, submissive etc. To quote Simone de Beauvoir in this context: To be feminine is
to appear weak, futile, docile. (1956:
Supervision Theory Essay
Why is a supervision theory basis necessary? How does an effective leader bridge theory to practice?
Supervision involves having other people do work through delegation of duties. This requires that
the people to whom work has been delegated be trusted and respected. There needs to be confidence
between the employees and the supervisor. To compete effectively and achieve success companies
usually rely on the involvement of their employees and must nurture their employees and encourage
their initiative. This requires effective leaders who can encourage others to be committed and
involved at work (Barry, Herbert Jeannette, 2003). On one side, the supervisor bears pressure from
the management, who wants the work done while on the other ... Show more content on

Relationship oriented behaviors are those behaviors that promote cohesion in a group. Leaders who
are relationship oriented are those who show human relationships and work hard to maintain the
group they lead. This type of leadership usually involves support to the subordinates, trusting that the
subordinates can work without much supervision and a friendly environment between the leaders
and the subordinates.
By the use of these behaviors, the people in the team get the opportunity to give their best. This is
because these leaders develop a good communication channel that involves everybody participating
in decision making. Moreover, the results of the group are usually boosted since everybody is
involved and there is no time when the leader shall make biased decisions.
This behavior is usually employee oriented but not result oriented. As such employee feel that their
interests are well addressed and end up working harder. Moreover, this behavior makes employees
not feel as subordinates by dispelling the tension that might develop among the employees.
Therefore, they usually contribute freely towards the group and this improves the results of the
group. The overall result of relationship oriented behaviors is the improved results of the team.
As an example, a manager who is always oriented towards the results of the people below him
forces the employees to always do what he wants even if they are incapable of doing it. Such a

Essay on The Battle of the Bulge
Yesterday, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was

Franklin D. Roosevelt. December 7th 1941 marked an event in history that everyone in the world

British and American forces in half and capture the port city of Antwerp. This would cause an

Careers In Psychology Class Analysis
This careers in psychology class taught me more than I anticipated to learn. Throughout the
semester, this class has taught me very important concepts, such as making plans for my future,
preparing myself for what to expect after I graduate with a bachelor s degree, what I can do with a
psychology degree, and other important topics. One of the most beneficial components of this class
was having individuals that either had a degree in psychology or a degree related to psychology
come in and talk to the class. Initially, I thought that these panels were going to be awkward and that
nobody was going to ask questions. I thought wrong. The volunteers that came in were all very
friendly. They were very thorough about their backgrounds and I enjoyed the honesty that they (and
even Dr. Steiner) had about different topics. Many of them did not even go into their undergraduate
studies with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is personally reassuring to know that there are different routes that I can take with the degree.
One of my biggest fears is changing my major because I either dislike the major or I have realized
that the major isn t going to make a good career for me. I am confident that I will never live that
fear out because I genuinely enjoy the field of psychology and it is a bonus knowing that there
are different types of careers that I can obtain with a psychology degree. I am glad that I decided
to enroll in this course. Previous to it, I had never taken a careers class and it was even better for
myself due to the fact that it was tailored towards people who are getting some type of psychology
degree. I enjoyed conversing with classmates, Dr. Steiner, and volunteers in the psychology field and
gaining useful information that I would not have had the opportunity to learn
The Intervention Plan Aims At Social Adult Day Center (...
Problem: The intervention plan aims at Social Adult Day center (SADC), under the network of
Hamilton Madison House (HMH). This program was designed to assist seniors who have
physical movement problems or cognitive impairments in managing emotional and physical
challenges. However, the problem is that the organization has inadequate professional social
workers to provide qualified services. To be specific, while in general around 40 seniors come to
the organization every day, only two social workers work in the agency currently the Director
Rita who is over 60 years old and the Program Coordinator Ping who works part time. Relevant
policies regulate that only licensed social workers have access to paperwork and certain services
such as case management. As a result, two social workers, particularly Rita, are seriously
overwhelmed by significant workloads; meanwhile, limited number of seniors has opportunities to
acquire alternatives for their adversities from social workers.
Objective: The purpose of this intervention plan is to have more professional social workers
involved in SADC to offer enhanced services for seniors.
Stakeholder Analysis: All identified stakeholders who might be negatively or positively affected by
this plan have been demonstrated in Figure 1.

Force Field Analysis: The first recognized driving force results from Ping and Rita s stress. They
strongly wish other social workers to work with to share heavy workloads. The next comes
Similarities Between Populists And Progressives
Of Populists and Progressives Many critics of history have long argued that Populists were far less
successful than Progressives in reaching their objectives, which is supported by the difference in
beliefs of the two groups and the results of their distinct reform attempts. Despite not being as
effective as the Progressives, the Populists did succeed in getting several of their ideas
acknowledged by the government. Unfortunately for the political group, a majority of the Populist
demands remained unrecognized or barely enforced. On the other hand, the Progressive movement
resulted in several societal and government reforms, as well as a new interest in the wellbeing of the
general population. While the Populists and Progressives shared similar objectives, the... Show more

While the Populists were able to inspire some more government involvement in the economy with
their currency concerns, the Progressives both reformed the government into a less corruptible
system and called for more government participation in reducing the growing power of certain
industries. Similarly, although the Populists managed to bring attention to the plight of the workers,
the Progressives, with their wider range of supporters due to their broader appeal, was able to pass
workplace regulations and to organize institutes to help foreigners assimilate into American society.
Finally, as the Populists failed to convince the nation to address most of their most basic beliefs and
goals, the Progressives succeeded in obtaining government recognition of their side of a long
standing racial dissension. In conclusion, historians are correct in believing that the Populists were
less successful than the Progressives in attaining their goals because of the vast differences between
the two results of the groups reform

H. I. Hester writes in his book entitled The Heart of the New Testament, The term canon as applied
to accepted authoritative Christian writing was first used in Alexandria, Egypt. In modern usage the
term canon means the list of biblical books which are recognized as inspired by the Holy Spirit and
authoritative. The stories contained in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible are of
paramount importance to the faith and spiritual development of every Christian alive today. Human
minds may never completely understand all that is contained in Holy Writ but this research paper
will also attempt to shed some light on some of the factors that help determine what biblical books
are considered canon today.
Reason or Need for Adoption of a Canon of Scripture There were many reasons for the adaption of
a canon of Scripture. One good reason is the basis of Christianity is found in the authority of
Scripture. The chief editor, Ted Byfield, wrote in his book, The Christians: Their First Two
Thousands Years, the following:
The further in time and distance that the Christian movement spread from its point of origin in
Bethlehem and Jerusalem, the more the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Apostles diverged and
discrepancies arose in the retelling of the gospel story. By the end of the second century, there were
in circulation some forty seven hundred relevant manuscripts and one hundred thousand written
quotations or allusions to Jesus or early church
Clothing In The Elizabethan Era
Going back in time into England s history and the The Elizabethan Era, during sixteenth century
under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, we would be able to see the specific formal fashion that was
used at the time. The queen utilized a stringent set of dress code known as the Sumptuary Laws
(Alchin). These laws put a limit in expenditure for the people and restricted the luxury of clothingin
order to make a clear difference in the social ranks (Alchin). Punishments for not following the
Sumptuary Laws included harsh fines, the loss of property and title, and sometimes even life
(Alchin). There is no question that woman s fashion has significantly evolved since the Elizabethan
Era, when the strict dress code involved much more complicated and... Show more content on

The variety in detail and characteristics symbolized the fortune and energy at this time; this is
what made fashion during the sixteenth century very unique and important. Most of the gowns
and dresses worn by the Elizabethan women were based on symmetrical shapes instead of the
actual shape of the body (Lad). The particular shapes and volume of the clothing represent a huge
part of the style used during the Elizabethan Era. Likewise, this is one of the many reasons why
the gowns were so complex; each piece had to be designed in a different way. In addition, women
in the Upper Class were the only ones who had access to fine materials such as: silk, satin, velvet,
taffeta, stable, scarlet and sarcenet (Alchin). At the time, these materials were extremely expensive,
but this just emphasized the distinction in the levels in society. The textiles were adorned with
fine needlework and decorated with jewels, spangles, pearls (Alchin). Women in the upper levels
were also limited dark colors to wear gold, silver, black purple, and red (Alchin). Furthermore,
women were expected to wear a ridiculous amount of layers underneath the skirts and gowns as a

Water Is Essential For Any Plants
In order for any plants to grow you need water. Water is essential for any and all life to be
sustainable. Water itself is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. This happens through chemical
processes in which two hydrogen atoms combine with one oxygen atom in order to fulfill a
complete outer energy shell. When the process is completed water is formed.
Water is found all around you. It s in lakes, river, streams, oceans and even in canals. Water makes
up 70% of the world. 2% of it is frozen at the poles in glaciers. Although it s most of the world, not
all of the water is drinkable. Roughly 3% of earth s water is fresh water and drinkable. Through
scientific research, a person can only go two days without drinking or consuming any water before
they die. Water also keeps kidneys functioning and working properly.
Photosynthesis is what plants use to create their food, and water is crucial to this process. Water
comes through plant s stems and travels up to its leaves, which is where photosynthesis actually
takes place. Once in the leaves water evaporates, as the plant exchanges water for carbon dioxide.
This glucose can be converted into pyruvate which releases adenosine triphosphate by cellular
respiration.

Sunlight is earth s most valuable light source. Without the sun earth wouldn t have plants and the
earth s temperature would be below zero in under a week. If the sun would miraculously go out, it
would take eight and a half minutes to reach earth. Within nine
Disadvantages Of Email Marketing
According to the market research firm The Radicati Group, (2014), in recent years, market
research has shown that email marketing is still a more trusted medium for marketers than
traditional digital marketing. There are over 2.5 billion email users worldwide, this figure is
expected to grow to over 2.8 billion by year end 2018, and worldwide revenues for the Email Market
will be $12 billion in 2014, and grow to over $23.5billion by year end 2018.
Bawm and Nath, (2014) indicate that email marketing has received the attention of numerous
marketing researchers, authors, and companies in the past fifteen years. Yeshin, (1998) explains that
email marketing is a perfect medium to pick up where other marketing leaves off. Email marketing
is still one of the most cost effective ways to contact prospects and customers. It is far cheaper than
traditional bulk postage mail and in many cases can have a much larger impact on immediate sales
and long term relationship strength than traditional advertising. Venugopal, et al, (2012) add that
when done correctly, email marketing can be an extremely powerful and effective marketing
technique. A medium allows a buyer and seller to freely communicate with one another and build a
relationship based on value and trust. When done incorrectly, however, email marketing can be
destructive, erode brand equity, and turn your happy clients into litigious flamers. Fiona and Doherty
(2012) conclude that e mail marketing is an important medium of

However, you must avoid feeding the baby anything that is based on wheat, flour, barley and pasta,
to decrease the chances of him developing the celiac disease.
From the seventh month to the ninth month, you can start feeding the baby oranges, cheese, yogurt,
bread, pasta, oats, potatoes, rice, fish, cooked eggs, and cold water.
The final stage of the food diversification process begins in the tenth month, when the baby should
have 3 regular and consistent meals every day that are based on vegetables, eggs, fish, bread,
cheese, yogurt, potatoes and rice, just like you were to cook for yourself.
When it comes to food diversification, you shouldn t stick only to the stages of the baby s growth
that we explained before, but you have to look for certain signs that the baby is giving you as well.
If the baby is ready to take it up a notch when it comes to food diversification, he will inevitably
produce more saliva, he will develop the lateral movement of chewing, the ability to swallow non
liquid food, the baby will be able to sit up with support, he will have a good neck and head control,

The Columbine Shooting Essay
The Columbine Shooting A little over two years ago, one of the worst tragedies concerning our
nation s children was playing out in a small rural town in Colorado. The date was April 20, 1999;
the anniversary of Adolf Hitler s Birthday, for any history buffs. But for everyone else the day
started out like any other. In Jefferson County (often mistakenly reported as being in Littleton),
Colorado, children went to school and parents went off to work. Neither was overly concerned
about the other, or about how the day would go, but in a few hours, that would all change.
Kleboldharris also went off to school that fateful day in April. Only they knew that this day was
anything but ordinary. This was the day that they had been waiting... Show more content on

Even though there was a thorough investigation, there are many questions that still surround this
tragedy. What caused these two teenagers to go to such drastic measures? Why was no one able to
stop them? Were there any signs that this kind of destruction was in the making? But, more
importantly, what has been the aftermath of this horrible massacre? These questions don t have
any definite answers, but speculations are more than abundant. In what was to become known as
the basement tapes , kleboldharris gave the most revealing insight into their psyche. In these tapes
kleboldharris say that they were natural born killers. If we are to be held to this kind of thinking
then we are to believe that some people are just plain evil, and there is nothing that can be done to
stop them. But there were warning signs. And with warning signs, there is an opportunity for
intervention. The most easily identifiable accomplice in hardening the hearts of kleboldharris lies
in the media. From video games to movies, violence and callousness towards violence is
everywhere. The shock jock , Howard Stern, was the most distasteful of the crowd. Immediately
after the shootings he made comments about the girls running out of Columbine, screaming and
waving their arms in the air, as being sexy. He claimed that if he was going to shoot them, he would
first have had sex with them. He also made comments about
Analysis Of Jean Ginsberg Sunflower Sutra
Poets in the 1950 s began writing about Asiatic poetics in an ancient style called a Sutra. This was
different than the poets incorporating Eastern philosophy of Zen Buddhism. Zen Buddhism can be
defined as the cohesive harmony of the mind and body through the practice of meditation and
spiritual connection to nature (Britannica). A Sutra can be defined as a teaching that is part of an
ancient religious tradition (Britannica). It is a Buddhist manuscript that teaches a moral. Allen
Ginsbergand Gary Snyder both incorporated both of these styles into their writings Sunflower Sutra
and Smokey the Bear Sutra respectfully. By analyzing these poetrystyles of Ginsberg, and Snyder
there are different themes that reflect their historic and social consciousness. ZenBuddhism was an
inspiration for Ginsberg s Sunflower Sutra. Ginsberg was born on June 3, 1926, in Newark, New
Jersey. He was born the son of a poet and then he became a major poet during the Beat era. He
wrote his poem Sunflower Sutra during his inspirational period late 1955 to the end of 1956
(Charters 288). During this period he spent time in a cottage in Berkley, California with his lover
Peter Orlovsky. In this cottage he wrote Sunflower Sutra which shows some of his themes in
writing. Themes that show up in this poem are the social normal, the natural world, Moloch, and
religion (Gradesaver). The theme of a social normal is something that all poets during the Beat era
and the Romanticism period like to
