Rules of Changing Speech (Narration)

STEP-01:
Person এর পররবর্তন
Rules-1:-Reported speech এর 1st person (I, we) সবতদা reporting verb এর Subject এর Number (singular নারি plural),
Gender (masculine নারি feminine) অনু সারর পররবরর্তর্ হরব।

Direct:- He says, "I am well".

Indirect - He says that he is well.

(এখারন I পররবর্তন হরে He হরেরে)

Rules-2:-Reported speech এর 2nd person (you) সবতদা reporting verb এর Object এর Number (singular নারি plural),
Gender (masculine নারি feminine) অনু সারর পররবরর্তর্ হরব।

Direct:- He says to me, "You are well'

Indirect:- He told me that I am well'

(এখারন You পররবর্তন হরে I হরেরে)

Rules-3:-Reported speech এর 3rd person পররবর্তন হে না।

Direct :- He says to Kamal "He is well".

Indirect:- He told Kamal that he is well'(এখারন Kamal/he পররবর্তন হেরন।)

Direct: - Helena said to Karina "She is unwell".

Indirect: - Helena told Karina that she was unwell

Person মরন রাখার কিৌশল: 1S2O

STEP-2
Reporting Verb-এর পররবর্তনঃ
Reporting verb এর পররবর্তন হরব Reported speech এর sentence এর ধররনর ওপর রনর্তর িরর।

Direct Speech Indirect Speech

Assertive Say থািরল say, say to থািরল tell, Said থািরল said, said
to থািরল told, replied থািরল replied

Interrogative said to/said/asked থািরল asked

Imperative Ordered (আরদশ বু ঝারল), requested (অনু ররাধ বু ঝারল),


advised (উপরদশ বু ঝারল), bade + not/forbade (রনরেধ
বু ঝারল)

Optative Optative Sentence এ God/Allah িথারি উরেখ থািরল


said/said to এর পররবরর্ত prayed এবং God/Allah িথারি
উরেখ না থািরল এবং Sentence রি দ্বারা যরদ িামনা বু ঝাে
র্াহরল wished বরস।
Exclamaatory Exclaimed with joy (সু খ/আনন্দ বু ঝারল), exclaimed with
sorrow/grief (দু ঃখ বু ঝারল), exclaimed with surprise
(রবস্মে বু ঝারল), bade (রবদাে রদরল)

Note-1: Imperative sentence এ Let us/Let’s রদরে শুরু হরল Reporting verb- said/said to এর পররবরর্ত proposed/proposed
to/suggested এবং Qoutation mark উরে that + Sub + should + …….. বরস।

Note-2: Imperative sentence এ Let+অনয রিেু রদরে শুরু হরল Reporting verb- said/said to এর পররবরর্ত requested এবং
Qoutation mark উরে that + Sub + might be allowed to + …….. বরস।

STEP-3 :
Quotation Mark(" ") র্ুরল Connectors এর বযবহার

Note: Direct Narration কথরি Indirect Narration এ রুপান্তররর সমে Reported Speech এর Sentence কি সবতদাই Assertive
Sentence এ রুপান্তররর্ িররর্ হে অথতাৎ Sub + verb + Obj

STEP-4:
Tense- এর পররবর্তন (Reporting Verb যরদ Past form- said, told, asked, replied এ হে)

Note-1: Reporting Verb যরদ Present form (say, tell, ask, reply) এ হে র্াহরল Reporting speech এর tense এর কিারনা
পররবর্তন হরব না।

Note-2: Reported Speech যরদ রিরন্তন সর্য/অর্যাসগর্ সর্য হে র্াহরল tense এর কিারনা পররবর্তন হে না ।

Direct: - I said to Karina "The earth moves round the sun".

Indirect: - Helena told Karina that the earth moves round the sun.

10. She said, "I will meet you tomorrow."
Interrogative sentence
1. He said to the girl, "Do you know me?"
2. He said to the boy, "What is your father?"
3. She said, "Will Tanisha do it?"
4. I say to him, "Am I right?"
5. Father said to the boy, "Who did it?"
6. Mr. Roy I said, "Can anyone do it?"
7. She said to me, "When Will you came?"
8. I said to him, "What is your name?"
9. Father said to me, "Which pen do you want?"
10. Bithi said to Riti, "Have you eaten rice?"
Imperative Sentence
1. He said to me, "Read the book."
2. She said to me, "Please give me a glass me of water."
3. Robin said to Ratna, " Let's have a walk".
4. Father said to me, " Do not go there."
5. Mother said to me, " Utilize your valuable time."
6. The boy said to me, "Let me go now."
7. He said, "My friends, listen to me."
8. The teacher said to the students, "Do the exercise."
9. He said to me, " Let us do it."
10. He said, " Rahim, do not do it."
Optative sentence
1. He said, “May Allah bless you.”
2. She said, “May you succeed in life!”
3. The teacher said, “May you all pass the exam.”
4. They said, “May our country prosper!”
5. Father said to me, “May you be happy forever.”
6. She said to her friend, “May you recover soon.”
7. He said, “Would that I were a king!”
8. They said, “Would that we could win the match!”
9. The old man said, “May God forgive me.”
10. My mother said, “May you live long and happily.”
Exclamatory sentence
1. He said, “What a beautiful flower it is!”
2. She said, “How intelligent you are!”
3. They said, “What a terrible accident it was!”
4. The boy said, “Hurrah! We have won the game.”
5. She said, “Alas! I have lost my purse.”
6. He said, “What a lovely day it is!”
7. The man said, “Fie! How dirty the place is!”
