It is required to design a bushed pin type coupling to connect the output shaft of an electric motor (CO2-K3)
to the shaft of a centrifugal pump. The motor delivers 20 kW power at 720 rpm. The starting
torque of the motor can be assumed to be 150% of the rated torque. Design the coupling and
specify the dimensions of its components.
12. A cast iron bracket is fixed to the steel structure is shown in figure. It supports a lad P of 25 kN. (CO3-K3)
There are two bolts of 'A' and bolts at 'B'. The distances are as follows, li=50 mm; -200mm;
C= 400 mm; Determine the size of the bolts, if maximum permissible tensile stresses in the bolt is
50N/mm.

13. A welded connection as shown in figure is subjected to an electric force of 7.5 kN. Determine the (C03-K3)
size of welds if the permissible shear stress for the welds if the permissible shear stress for the
