5.1 Experiment Name
Study of PLC ladder logics for analog sensor and counter operations using Logosoft Comfort
Software.
5.3 Objectives
1. To know about the PLC program.
2. To apply the PLC program in a real-life application.
5.3 Theory
PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) is an industrial computing device designed to perform
automation tasks in an industrial environment. It is a robust, flexible, and real-time system. It
takes inputs, processes them based on pre-programmed logic, and controls the outputs. It is
used in many industrial, IOT, and real-life applications.
5.4 Required Apparatus
1. LOGO!Soft Comfort V7.0
2. Computer
5.5 Problems and Ladder Diagram
Problem 01: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
1. The clockwise button is pressed, and the motor rotates clockwise.
2. The anti-clockwise start button is pressed, and the motor rotates in anti-clockwise.
3. The stop button is pressed, and the motor stops
4. During clockwise rotation, the anti-clockwise rotation circuit will be inactive and vice
versa.
5. The motor has inertia.

Problem 02: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
1. Start a 3-phase induction motor. For this purpose, use a 3-phase Y-Δ starter.
2. During starting, the starter is connected in Y for 5sec.
3. During running, the starter is connected in a Δ.

Problem 03: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
1. When any object passes through the door, a speaker makes a continuous sound.
2. A user can stop the sound manually.

Problem 04: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
Process-1:
1. The Start button-1 is pressed, pump A starts, and runs for 10 sec.
2. Then, pump B starts and runs for 15 seconds.
3. Then pump C starts and runs for 1 min.
4. Stop button-1 pressed, process stop.
Process-2:
1. If the start button-2 is pressed, pump D starts and runs for 5 sec.
2. Stop button-2 pressed, process stop.
Both motors are interlocked.

Problem 05: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
A= High Level; B= Low Level
1. You have to control the water level between Level A and Level B manually
2. You have to control the water level between Level A and Level B automatically
3. You have to control the water level between Level A and Level B both manually
and automatically.

Problem 06: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
1. When the start button is pressed, the conveyor belt starts.
2. A sensor detects the objects when an object passes it.
3. When an object passes it, it starts counting.
4. When 5 objects pass, the belt stops.

Problem 07: Write a PLC program in a ladder diagram that follows the conditions below-
1. A car parking lot has a capacity to hold a maximum of 10 cars.
2. The entry and exit paths are different.
3. Sensors are placed at the entry and exit paths to detect a car entrance or outgoing.
4. A display shows the number of cars.

5.6 Discussion & Conclusion
In this experiment, PLC was studied and applied to implement different real-life problems.
Real-life problems for different conditions were solved by using a PLC ladder diagram. The
output was noticed carefully so that all diagrams followed the conditions.
At last, it can be said that the overall experiment was done successfully.
