Teaching Script: Weekly Routine (Beginner Level)

1. Pre-Activity

Greeting & Attendance (5 minutes)

● T: Good morning, everyone! How are you feeling today? Did everyone have a good
weekend? (Wait for students to respond.)

● T: That’s great to hear! Okay, first, let me check the attendance. Please unmute and
say “present” when I call your name. (Take attendance.)

● T: Before we begin, please log in to the Educaplay website using the link I provided
earlier. If you have any issues, let me know, and I’ll help you.

Introduction (5 minutes)

● T: Let me introduce myself. My name is [Your Name], and I’ll be your tutor for this
session. Here’s a little about me: I usually wake up early and walk to the campus
because I live close by. I teach English classes and love learning about new cultures.
(Write examples of routines on the notepad: “I wake up early,” “I walk to the campus.”
● T: Now, it’s your turn! Please introduce yourself. What’s your name? Where do you
live? How do you usually go to campus? (Call on a few students to share.)

Video & Explanation (5 minutes)

● T: Let’s watch a short video about routines. Pay attention to the sentences used in
the video. (Play the video.)

● T: In the video, you heard sentences like “I walk to the campus,” “We take the bus,”
and “I ride my bike.” These describe routines or habits. In English, we use the simple
present tense to talk about things we do regularly, like every day or every week.
(Show examples on the notepad.)

2. Whilst-Activity

Grammar - Writing (15 minutes)

● T: Now, let’s learn about the simple present tense. Look at the Grammar Section:

● T: Let’s repeat these sentences together. Repeat after me. Say each example and
have students repeat.
● T: Notice that when the subject is I, you, we, and they, the verb is just go, but for he,
she, and it the verb is goes. If the subject is he, she, or it, we add -s/es to the verbs.
Other examples are: Repeat after me. So far, is there any question?

● T: We also use frequency adverbs like “always,” “sometimes,” and “never” to talk
about how often we do something. We put the frequency adverb between the subject
and the verb. For example: Repeat after me.
● T: Now how about negative sentences? If the subject is ‘I, you, we, or they’, we use
‘do not’, Repeat after me. If the subject is ‘he, she, or it’, we use ‘does not’. Repeat
after me. We usually shorten ‘do not’ to ‘don’t’ and ‘does not’ to ‘doesn’t’.

● T: What about making questions? We use ‘do’ for ‘I you we they’ and ‘does’ for ‘he,
she, and it’. Repeat after me.

● T: So that’s how you make ‘yes or no’ questions. Now how do we answer those
questions? Let’s take a look at these examples. Repeat after me. Is there any
question?

Grammar - WritingExercise (15 minutes)

● T: Now, I’m going to send a website link to our WA group, please open it and go to
page 03 in the Grammar Section Part A. Click “play” and try to complete the
Exercise. Let me know if you need help.

● T: Let’s review your answers together. Do you remember the correct answer from the
game? (Go through the answers with the class)

● Answer Key:

1. I usually have dinner at six thirty.

2. She always goes to class at eight thirty.
3. She doesn’t go to work on Thursdays.
4. On Sundays, we don’t go to the campus.
5. Do they have lunch together on Fridays?
6. Does she get up early on Mondays?

Writing & Speaking Practice (15 minutes)

● T: Great job everyone! Now let’s practice describing routines. Go to page 02, look at
the speaking section part A. First, list what you do on weekends in the chat. Here’s
an example: “On Saturdays, I stay at home” or “On Sundays, I go to the café”. (Give
students time to respond.)
● T: Great! Now, we’ll do part B. I want each of you to tell me what your friend does.

● Example:

Maybe we can start from Dinda. Dinda, what does Tary do on her weekends?

Tary writes, “On Saturdays, I go to the cafe with friends.”

Dinda answers: “On Saturdays, she goes to the cafe with friends”

Listening & Reading Aloud (20 minutes)

● T: Next, we’ll do a listening activity. Go to Page 04 and I’ll play an audio clip. Listen
carefully and try to follow along. (Play the audio.)

● T: Now, let’s read the paragraphs together. I’ll start with the first paragraph and I’ll call
on each of you to read the next paragraphs.

● T: Okay, great job, guys! Now I’d like you all to repeat after me. (Correct
pronunciation as needed.)
Reading Comprehension (30 minutes)

● T: Finally, let’s do a True or False activity based on the reading. Go to Reading

Exercise Part C on the website and click ‘play’ to complete it.

● T: Have you finished? Okay guys, we’ll discuss the answers together. (Discuss
answers with the class.) “How do you know? Can you point the sentence where you
got the answer?”
● Answer Key:
1. No. - Ellen is a cleaner and she loves her job.
2. No - Firstly, she starts work at 6 o’clock. When she walks to work, the streets
are quiet
3. Yes - When she walks to work, the streets are quiet and she can hear the
birds sing. You don’t usually hear the birds in the middle of the city!

3. Post-Activity

Wrap-up & Reflection (10 minutes)

● T: Let’s summarize today’s lesson. We learned about the simple present tense to
describe routines and habits (Encourage students to participate.)

● T: In the present tense, note that:

o We use the base verbs

o We add -s/-es to the base verbs if the subject is ‘he, she, or it’

o We use ‘do’ if the subject is ‘I you we and they’.

o We use ‘does’ if the subject is ‘he she it’.

● T: Now, can someone share an example sentence using the simple present tense?

● Answer key:
- I usually eat breakfast at 7.30

● Correct! Great job! Thank you for the example.

● T: For homework, go to page 04 and do the Grammar Exercise Part B. work in pairs
to write a short conversation about your routines. You can follow the example given
here. Practice and record it. Submit both the writing and the recording.

● T: Thank you all for your hard work today! Have a great day, and see you next time.
