Data Sorting using MS - Excel

Aim :

To perform Data Sorting using MS Excel.

Hardware Requirements:
Processor :- Intel Pentium, > GHz Speed

RAM :- 1GB

HDD :- 500MB

Software Requirements:

OS:- Windows 7, 8 , 10

Tool:- MS Excel
Steps and Procedures:

Step 1 - Open MS Excel.


Enter the sample data,
Student Name Class Total Marks Grade Date of Birth
Alice 10 450 B 15-03-2008
Brian 10 490 A 23-07-2007
Charles 10 430 C 01-01-2008
Diana 10 500 A 05-05-2007
Eva 10 460 B 10-10-2008

Step 2 - Sort by One Column (Single-Level Sort)


Click on any cell under Student Name, then click A to Z to sort
alphabetically.

Step 3 - Sort by Numbers (e.g., Total Marks)


Go to Data > Sort.
In the dialog box:
Sort by: Total Marks
Order: Largest to Smallest (or vice versa)
Click OK.

Step 4 - Multi-Level Sorting (e.g., Grade and Total Marks)


Go to Data > Sort > Click Add Level.
First Sort by: Grade, Order: A to Z
Then by: Total Marks, Order: Largest to Smallest
Click OK.

Step 5 - Sorting by Date


Click any cell in the Date of Birth column.
Use Sort Oldest to Newest or Newest to Oldest.
Output:

Result:

Thus Data Sorting using MS Excel is done successfully.
