INT.
HEADQUARTERS – DAY
OPENING SCENE
NARRATOR
The control room inside Riley’s mind is buzzing—literally. Memory orbs are
stacked everywhere, teetering on the edge of chaos. The central shelf is
crammed, glowing with thousands of colourful memories.
Spring cleaning in the mind isn’t as simple as dusting under the bed. In
Riley’s Headquarters, it means revisiting every moment that ever made
her laugh, cry... or want to crawl under the bleachers and disappear.
JOY (wiping her forehead)
Alright team! We’ve got to clear out the Overflow Shelf. If we don’t make
space, new memories will start rolling everywhere!
ANGER (arms crossed)
Who decided every birthday party needed to be saved? Half of these are
just cupcakes and awkward singing!
SADNESS (gently holding a blue orb)
But look at this one... she cried because the balloons flew away. It was
beautifully tragic.
DISGUST (holds up an orb with a sour face)
Ugh. That memory of her eating cold spaghetti off the floor? Toss.
Immediately.
FEAR (dodging a falling orb)
Can we just not touch anything? What if we accidentally delete her ability
to tie her shoes?
ANXIETY (rapid-fire pacing)
No, no, no—if we throw out the wrong memory, she could develop
emotional instability, poor judgment, or start trusting people who say,
“trust me.”
EMBARRASSMENT (peeking from behind a shelf)
Uh... I found the school dance memories. Should I even be touching
these?
ENVY (eyeing a green orb)
Ooooh. This one’s from when she saw her friend’s vacation photos. Can
we maybe keep it? It’s... aspirational.
ENNUI (lounging on the couch)
Whatever. Wake me when it’s over. Or don’t. Doesn’t matter.
JOY (clapping her hands)
Okay! Let’s rewatch them, decide what still sparks joy, and toss the rest.
PERFORMANCE SCENE - EY1
NARRATOR (As EY1 enters the stage)
All the Emotions groan or mumble in agreement as Joy put a memory orb
onto the memory player and hit play. The first memory orb flickers to life
in the air — young Riley’s birthday party.
The emotions all stare as the memory plays, their hearts melting.
(EY1 performs.)
As EY1 exits the stage, Joy took away the memory orb.
SADNESS (holding the memory orb)
We can’t toss this memory away! Look at Riley—she was so happy...
ENNUI (shrugging, monotone)
I usually don’t care... but she’s right.
JOY (brightly)
Alright, let’s keep it aside for now!
The other emotions nod in agreement. Joy gently places the memory orb
into a box.
PERFORMANCE SCENE – EY2E
ANGER (grabbing a red-colored orb and shoving it into the player)
Well, this one looks interesting!
(EY2E performs.)
(As EY2E exits the stage...)
Anger removes the orb from the player.
ENVY (leaning forward at the console, smiling)
She has such good friends!
SADNESS (taking the orb from Anger and placing it in the box)
Let’s keep this too.
PERFORMANCE SCENE - EY2R
ENVY (running to grab a Memory Orb)
My turn!!!
ENNUI
Geez, calm down.
Envy places the memory orb on the player.
(EY2R performs.)
(EY2R exits the stage.)
JOY
We must keep this one! Riley learnt an important lesson here.
FEAR
Agreed, we don’t want her to be arrogant.
Envy removed the memory orb and places it into the box.
PERFORMANCE SCENE – Y1E
DISGUST
Alright, let’s move on people! We still have plenty of memory to go
through!
Joy selects a memory orb and places it in the player.
(Y1E performs.)
(Y1E exits the stage...)
Joy removes the memory orb from the player.
FEAR (reaching for the memory orb)
We don’t need this; it was a scary memory for me!
JOY(hugging the memory protectively)
No way! Riley enjoyed it despite being scared on stage! And she did a
brave job of hiding her fears!
SADNESS
Come on guys, let’s keep it for now. We don’t have time to waste.
Joy places the memory into the box.
PERFORMANCE SCENE - Y1R
ANXIETY (grabbing an orange-colored orb and quickly putting it into the
player)
Let’s watch this memory next!
NARRATOR (As Year 1R enters the stage)
This is a memory when Riley had big dreams of joining her school’s top
hockey team. But when a harsh voice fills her mind with doubt, anxiety
takes over. Riley feels alone and stuck—until a friend reaches out, then
another. Together, they show her she’s not alone. With their support, Riley
finds the courage to stand again.
(Year 1R performs.)
(After Year 1R exits the stage...)
ANGER (arms crossed, glaring at Anxiety)
Geez, I wonder whose fault that was!
ENVY (defensive)
Drop it, Anger. It all ended well!
EMBARRASSMENT (shielding Anxiety, nervous)
A-Anxiety feels bad about this...
DISGUST (groaning, impatient)
Ugh, can we move on already? These memory orbs are covered in dust—
gross!
ANGER (grabbing a red-colored orb and shoving it into the player)
Fine, fine! Let’s check this one out.
PERFORMANCE SCENE - Y1S
NARRATOR (As Year 1S enters the stage)
As the memory starts playing, Fear gasps. Anger starts to look sheepish.
The other emotions glance at them, wondering what’s going on.
FEAR (hands on head, panicked)
Oh no, not this memory! Riley’s temper still haunts me to this day!
(Year 1S starts performing.)
(As Year 1S exits the stage, Anger quickly snatches the memory orb.)
ANGER (awkward chuckle)
Eheheh... maybe we shouldn’t keep this one.
ANXIETY (snatching the orb from Anger)
No way! I need this memory in case you bring up what I did again!
JOY (gently pushing Anger and Anxiety apart)
Alright, alright—let’s stop fighting! Big Guy, can you pick a memory and
play it?
PERFORMANCE SCENE – Y2E
EMBARRASSMENT (shuffling nervously, holding a pinkish orb)
Um… I guess… Is this one alright....?
ANGER (grumbling)
Just play it already—we don’t have all day.
EMBARRASSMENT (muttering as they place the orb into the player)
Alright, alright...
(Y2S performs.)
(After Y2S exits the stage…)
ENVY (teasingly)
Honestly? That fall was kind of graceful.
SADNESS (softly)
She felt so embarrassed… but it was also sweet how her friends helped
her up.
EMBARRASSMENT (blushing but smiling a little)
It was awful then... but kinda nice now.
JOY (placing the memory orb into the box)
Let’s keep this one—it shows how brave Riley really is.
PERFORMANCE SCENE – Y2R
ENNUI (sighing and dragging their feet to the console)
Fine... guess I’ll pick a memory too. Whatever.
DISGUST (eye-roll)
Wow, try not to bring the whole vibe down.
ENNUI (places a pale grey orb into the player)
This one’s not sad... it’s just... meh. But kind of pretty.
(Y2R performs.)
(After Y2R exits the stage…)
SADNESS
That memory made me feel... calm.
ENNUI (putting the orb into the box)
I mean... yeah. It didn’t suck. We should keep it.
PERFORMANCE SCENE – Y2S
DISGUST (grimacing, holding up a goo-covered green orb)
Ugh, I almost didn’t touch this one. It’s dripping. But it’s… interesting.
FEAR (peeking over)
That orb smells like something died in there!
DISGUST (slots the orb into the player)
Exactly. Let’s play it.
NARRATOR (as Y2S enters the stage)
This memory came from a time when Riley was in a school play, featuring
a village with a stinky monster. The costumes in the play were so real that
it filled Riley with disgust.
(Y2S performs.)
(After Y2S exits the stage…)
ANGER (blinking)
Okay… that was gross. But kind of awesome?
ENVY
Gloob was actually a hero! I want a badge like his.
DISGUST (sighing dramatically)
I guess gross can be great... sometimes.
JOY (smiling as she places the orb into the box)
Into the box it goes!
PERFORMANCE SCENE - EY3E
FEAR (eyes wide, clutching a pale blue orb)
I... I think we should watch this one next. It’s—uh—very important. For
safety reasons.
Fear carefully places the orb into the memory player.
(EY3E performs.)
(As EY3E exits the stage...)
FEAR (tugging at his collar)
Y-yeah, I don’t want to see that again... but Riley should keep it. You
know, as a warning.
ENVY (nodding gently)
She got through it, Fear. That’s what matters.
Envy places the memory orb carefully into the box.
NARRATOR
And so, the emotions continued their journey through Riley’s memories,
each one a piece of her growing heart. Next up, a memory that had
everyone holding their breath...
PERFORMANCE SCENE – EY3R
SADNESS (softly, holding a blue orb close to her chest)
This memory... it’s tender and painful. But I think it needs to be
remembered.
Sadness places the orb on the memory player.
NARRATOR (As EY3R enters the stage)
This is the story of Riley and her beloved cat, Max. They did everything
together—played, walked, and even shared dreams. But one day at the
park, Max chased a squirrel... and never came back. Riley searched and
called his name, but he was gone. Her heart ached with quiet sorrow.
(EY3R performs.)
(As EY3R exits the stage...)
ENNUI (sighing, still slouched on the couch)
Well... that was depressing. But I guess even I felt something.
ENVY (looking down)
I wish I had something that special...
JOY (softly)
Then let’s keep it. It’s part of who Riley is.
Sadness gently adds the memory to the box.
