First Holy Communion
Children wishing to make their First Confession and Holy Communion at Sacred Heart church, Balby, must collect a letter of intention from church and return it to Father OConnor, no later than Wednesday February 15th. Resources will be ordered based on numbers on this date. Lessons will commence shortly after this. Unfortunately we do not have access to a translator, so children must be able to access the English resources in order to take part. [Link] Church Can we please advise children, parents and guardians that Holy Communion Preparation begins with a meeting of all the aforementioned on Tuesday 14th February 6- 7 p.m in St Peters Church. Many have missed this notice last Sunday due to absence from Mass because of bad weather.
Building Fund In this diocese, since 1998, each family has been asked to pay at least 12 per child (to a maximum of 22 per family, for those with more than 1 child in school). The school has then to pay 6 per child to the diocesan building fund and the remainder goes into our schools own building fund. We have avoided asking for these contributions more recently by using the proceeds from our Summer fairs each year but these no longer cover our costs to the diocese and our own repairs so we are looking to new ways of raising the additional funds. Contributions are on a voluntary basis so we have decided to make it a little more attractive by holding a weekly cash prize draw. We will be giving a cash prize to a lucky Foundation Stage family, a Key Stage 1 family and a Key Stage 2 family. The amount will depend on how much building fund money is brought in that week in each of those key stages. We will begin after the half term break. The first draw will be announced on Friday 24th February. Good luck! Can we please remind parents not to bring dogs or to smoke in the playground. If you do smoke then would you please take into consideration the area you are smoking in, as children may have to pass where you are smoking to go into school.
