Application for the Position of Assistant Lecturer, Department of Primary Education

I am writing to express my strong interest in the position of Assistant Lecturer in the


Department of Primary Education at Abdulkadir Kure University (AKUM), as advertised on your
recruitment portal. With a Second Class Upper Division (CGPA: 3.95) in B.Ed Primary Education
from the University of Ilorin, TRCN certification, and comprehensive teaching experience, I am
excited about the opportunity to contribute to AKUM’s vision of innovation, academic excellence,
and community impact.

During my academic training and field experiences—including my NYSC placement at Greater


Tomorrow International School and teaching practice at Tanke LGEA School—I honed my
instructional delivery in foundational literacy and numeracy, curriculum-aligned lesson planning,
classroom management, and inclusive teaching strategies. These experiences reinforced my
belief in child-centered pedagogy and the transformative power of play-based learning.

My undergraduate research project, supervised by Dr. Eniola Keji Ola-Alani, was titled “Relative
Effectiveness of Play in Promoting Healthy Childhood Development.” This study deepened my
interest in early childhood education and the cognitive, emotional, and social benefits of
experiential learning. I am passionate about using evidence-based approaches to enrich the
Nigerian primary education curriculum and contribute to the development of teacher training
content and child development policies.

I am equally committed to research, academic service, and collaboration. Through my roles in


NUESA and the NYSC CDS group, I developed strong organizational and leadership skills that I
will bring into departmental activities, student mentorship, and community outreach programs. I
am eager to further my research career in foundational education and contribute to publications,
conferences, and professional development initiatives in line with AKUM’s standards.

I have attached my CV, academic credentials, TRCN certificate, NYSC discharge certificate, and
references in line with your application guidelines. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss
how my background, academic interests, and passion for primary education align with the goals
