MBG24303L MAIN PROJECT - GUIDELINES


GUIDELINES FOR STUDENTS
1. Select a research problem with business relevance, innovation potential, and scope for
publication or patentability.
2. Conduct a minimum of 20 research paper reviews from reputed journals. Summarize
research gaps and ensure proper citations using reference management tools like
Mendeley/Zotero.
3. Final project report must pass a plagiarism check with a similarity index below 15%.
4. A detailed research proposal (max 5 pages) must be submitted by the end of Week 2
covering objectives, methodology, expected outcomes, and deliverables.
5. Ensure primary or secondary data is collected ethically with proper consent forms.
Secondary data sources must be credible and cited properly.
6. Mandatory weekly progress meetings (in person/G-meet) with the faculty guide. Submit a
weekly logbook signed by the guide at the rough draft submission.
7. Use appropriate software like SPSS, NVivo, R, Python, or Tableau for data analysis. Tools
used must be documented.
8. Clear focus on achieving one of the following:
i. A manuscript ready for submission to a peer-reviewed journal.
ii. A conference paper ready for submission.
iii. Patent draft ready for filing.
9. Final project report (max 100 pages) must follow institution-prescribed formatting,
including Executive Summary, APA/Harvard references, graphs, tables, and annexures.
Submission on date is essential, late submissions are viewed seriously.
10. Prepare for a viva presentation before the research committee with a PPT including
methodology, analysis, findings, and potential for publication/conference/patent.

GUIDELINES FOR FACULTY GUIDES


1. Ensure topic feasibility within 3 months, with publication/patent/conference potential.
2. Supervise ethical considerations in data collection, plagiarism prevention, and originality
of work.
3. Conduct mandatory weekly review meetings and document student progress in a guide
logbook.
4. Provide necessary training or direct students to workshops/webinars on research methods,
tools (SPSS, Python, etc.), writing skills, and publication processes.
5. Guide students in selecting proper research design, sampling techniques, hypothesis
framing, and analytical methods.
6. Ensure quality of data analysis, avoid false results, and cross-verify statistical
interpretations.
7. Actively mentor students to develop manuscripts or patent drafts; suggest target
journals/conferences or direct them to the advisory member allotted to the class.
8. Provide timely feedback on report drafts with clear directions for improvement.
9. Ensure final reports are plagiarism-checked before submission.
10. Assist and co-author (if applicable) the student’s work for submission to journals or
conferences.
11. Submit the Review marks in the due timeline and the log books at the final submission.

GUIDELINES FOR PROJECT ADVISORY & MONITORING COMMITTEE


1. Collect the confirmation letter and the Company guide details (Contact number and Mail
ID) from the Guides for the allotted section.
2. As per the sections allotted, kindly get updates from the faculty guides about the research
outcomes of the student's projects.
3. Identify suitable peer-reviewed journals (Scopus, ABDC, etc.)
4. Guide on writing research papers from the project and provide suggestions for improving
the manuscript.
5. Recommend relevant national/international management conferences.
6. Help students prepare abstracts and papers for submission.
7. Evaluate the patentability of ideas (especially in business models, technology-driven
projects, AI in marketing, fintech innovations, etc.).
8. Assist in drafting and filing patent applications and Guide on commercialization
possibilities.
