2. Propeller & Shaft Specifications


● Diameter: 18 inches
● Shaft: 1 1/4 inches

3. Findings
Propeller & Shaft Conditions

● Both propellers have nicked blades on leading edges.

Structural & Electrical Issues

● Port trim tab is missing a bolt in the ram mount.


● Red and green navigation lights are inoperable.
● Anchor light is inoperable.
● AC outlets in the engine space require inspection and should be ignition protected.
● Gate valves for all through-hull fittings need attention.
● Water heater located in the engine space is not ignition protected.
● No battery switch installed.
● The Bilge pump needs to be secured and tested.
● Moisture and Delamination throughout gunwales and bow areas, including edges of
cabin trunk where handrails are located.
● Moisture and delamination in cockpit hatch and sole.

Mechanical & Plumbing Issues

● Missing hose clamp at the main intake for water feed on the port engines shaft packing
at the packing.
● Missing hose clamp at the main intake for water feed on the starboard engine shaft
packing at exhaust manifold.
● Starboard exhaust manifold has significant rust, particularly on the aft, inner side.
● Port and starboard fuel tanks sending units are removed.
● AC pump is not fully plumbed

4. Structural & General Recommendations


● Prioritize rebedding hardware over addressing stress cracks.
● Renew any rusty hose clamps.
● Fully service engines and transmissions - Fluids, filters, impeller pumps, spark plugs, ect

For a 32-foot recreational vessel, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) requirements include the
following:

1. Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs)


● Must have one USCG-approved life jacket per person onboard.
● If carrying children under 13 years old, they must wear a properly fitting life jacket
while underway (unless below deck or in an enclosed cabin).
● At least one Type IV throwable flotation device (such as a cushion or ring buoy) must
be onboard.

2. Fire Extinguishers
● A 32-foot boat with an inboard engine requires at least two B-I or one B-II USCG-
approved fire extinguisher(s).
● Fire extinguishers must be readily accessible and in good condition.

3. Visual Distress Signals (VDS)


● Must carry day and night signals if operating in coastal waters, the Great Lakes, or
territorial seas.
● Day signals: Orange smoke or signal flag.
● Night signals: Red flares (hand-held or aerial) or an electric distress light.

4. Sound-Producing Devices
● Must have a whistle, horn, or bell to signal other vessels in fog or restricted visibility.
● Boats over 39.4 feet (but not applicable to a 32-footer) require a bell.
5. Navigation Lights
● Must display proper navigation lights between sunset and sunrise and during low
visibility.
● Includes red (port), green (starboard), and white stern/all-around anchor light.

6. Ventilation (For Boats with Enclosed Engine Spaces)


● If gasoline-powered with an enclosed engine space, must have natural or powered
ventilation to remove fuel vapors.

7. Backfire Flame Arrestor


● Required for each carburetor of gasoline engines (except outboards) to prevent
explosions.

8. Marine Sanitation Device (MSD)


● If equipped with a toilet, it must have a USCG-certified MSD to prevent overboard
discharge.

9. Registration and Documentation


● Must carry valid registration or USCG documentation onboard.
● Hull Identification Number (HIN) must be permanently marked.

10. Oil & Garbage Pollution Regulations


● Must display oil discharge and garbage disposal placards if over 26 feet.
● No dumping of oil or garbage in U.S. waters.
