Question 1.
The first term of an arithmetic progression is 1.5 and the sum of first ten terms is 127.5. Find the
common difference.

Question 2.
The sum of the first n terms of an arithmetic sequence is 𝑛2 + 5𝑛.
a) Find the nth term.
b) Write down the first four terms.

Question 3.
Ahmad deposits $100 in a bank account at the start of each year. He earns 4% compound
interest.
a) Work out how much money he has in his bank account at the end of the 3rd year.
b) Work out how much money he has in his account at the start of the 30th year after he has
made his annual deposit.

Question 4.
The geometric progression 𝑎1 , 𝑎2 , 𝑎3 … … has first term 2 and common ratio 𝑟 > 0. It is given

that 2 𝑎5 + 7𝑎3 = 8. Find the value of 𝑟.
