The Whispering Willow
Once upon a time, in the heart of a forgotten kingdom, stood a grand
willow tree, taller than the castle towers and older than the oldest villager.
Beneath its sweeping branches lived Elara, a young girl with a curious
mind and a heart full of dreams. Her family was poor, and every day she
helped her mother gather firewood, wishing silently for a better life.
One evening, as golden stars blinked in the sky, the willow whispered to
her in a voice as soft as the wind:
"If you speak kindness to others, your wishes will find their way to me."
Elara was astonished but listened carefully. From that day on, she greeted
everyone with warmth, helped lost travelers find their way, and comforted
children when they were sad. Each kind word she spoke, the willow's leaves
glowed a little brighter.
One harsh winter, the kingdom faced famine. Elara, though hungry herself,
gave her last loaf of bread to a shivering old woman. That night, the
willow whispered once more:
"Your kindness has planted roots deep in every heart. Look outside."
In the morning, Elara awoke to find her small cottage replaced by a
beautiful stone house, and the fields around her blossomed even though it
was still winter. The old woman she had helped was the kingdom’s
forgotten fairy queen, disguised to test her heart.
Elara's kindness spread throughout the land, and the kingdom grew rich
not with gold, but with generosity. The willow tree still stands, and they
say it whispers only to those who have kindness to share.
