Blue Band Cambridge Readers are for children around 5 to 6 years old who
are getting better at reading. The books have longer sentences and some
talking between characters. They use simple punctuation like question
marks. There are more new words, and some words are repeated to help
learning. The stories have a beginning, middle, and end, with more
characters and places. Pictures still help but are not as important. There
are both storybooks and fact books.
Yellow Band Cambridge Readers are for children who are starting to read
more on their own. The books have slightly longer sentences and use
common words that children may already know. Some new words are
added and repeated to help learning. The stories are simple, with a clear
beginning, middle, and end. Pictures help explain the story and support
understanding. There are both storybooks and fact books to help children
enjoy reading and learn new things. The *Yellow Band* in Cambridge
Readers is typically for children aged 4 to 5 years old. It is designed for
early readers who are beginning to read simple sentences more
independently and are starting to recognize more words on sight.
The Orange Band in Cambridge Readers is generally suitable for children
aged 6 to 7 years old. At this level, children read with increasing
confidence, handle more complex sentences, and begin to understand
deeper story ideas and vocabulary with less support.
