Ans. A magnetic tape is a very thin strip of plastic which is coated in a magnetic
layer. The data is stored as magnetized area or demagnetized area. It is
used as a backup media where vast amounts of data needs to be
stored and in long term archiving of data.
e. Explain the main types of CD and DVD.
Ans. The main types are:
1.CD ROM and DVD ROM: Stands for read-only memory. These
cannot be written to only read from.
2.CD-R and DVD-R: R stands for Recordable. It can be written only
once.
3.CD-RW and DVD-RW: Re-writable. These can be written to multiple
times.
