I. INTRODUCTION
1.1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Many schools might not always have enough accessible sinks, soap,
or clean water for students to wash their hands, especially on larger
campuses or those in resource-constrained areas. Students may not
always apply hand sanitizer appropriately, rubbing it in for the necessary
20 to 30 seconds or using too little. The price of hand sanitizing station
installation, dispensers, and bulk sanitizers can be prohibitive for certain
schools, particularly those with tight budgets. Staff members and students
may eventually feel weary of often washing their hands, particularly if it
becomes a hassle during hectic times. Not every hand sanitizer works
efficiently to kills enough germs, or is safe for delicate skin, especially if
used excessively. Students may wind up swarming around the hand
sanitizing facilities in places with high student populations, which might
pose a safety risk, particularly when it comes to upholding social
distancing. By conserving water, the institution or school contributes to
lessen its environmental impact, supporting eco-friendly behaviors among
school personnel and students, supporting sustainability objectives. For a
few seconds, a fine mist of disinfection is released by the machine,
completely covering the hands. Compared to conventional handwashing,
which entails using soap, scrubbing, and then rinsing, this machine is
substantially quicker. The system is ideal for high-traffic areas such as

school entrances, libraries, and restrooms since it is quick and allows
many staff members and students to utilize it without waiting in line.
The purpose of this study is to motivate employees and students to
wash their hands more often, which is crucial for stopping the spread of
diseases like COVID-19, flu, and colds. Combining a dry handwashing
machine with a fog disinfection system allows schools and universities to
address hygienic concerns while also conserving water costs. It is a state-
of-the-art, efficient, and ecologically conscious solution that upholds the
health of staff members and students while advancing sustainability goals.
1.1.1. Hand Washing
Handwashing is a critical aspect of maintaining a healthy and
safe environment in schools and other educational facilities with a
diverse population of students and staff in close proximity, ensuring
proper hand hygiene is essential to prevent the spread of illnesses and
maintain overall well-being. Hand hygiene is king in the prevention of
illness in any type of public or educational facility from daycares to
elementary schools, even colleges and universities. The coronavirus
has brought to the surface just how important proper commercial hand
hygiene solutions are not only does hand washing help stop the spread
of infectious illnesses, but it also instills confidence in all who come and
go, as they can rest assured that the necessary safety measures have
been put in place to protect their health and safety.

1.1.2. Effect of Hand Washing
The World Health Organization states that "appropriate hand
hygiene prevents up to 50% of avoidable infections acquired during
health care delivery, including those affecting the health work force."
This is the first precaution you need to take to prevent COVID-19 during
the quarantine period, as "appropriate hand hygiene reduces the risk on
SARS-CoV-2 - the virus that causes COVID-19 - infection among health
workers." Washing your hands every time helps you avoid bacteria and
many other things.
1.1.3. Arduino Uno as the Microcontroller
Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on user-
friendly hardware and software. Arduino boards may accept inputs,
such as the light on a sensor, a finger on a button, or a tweet, and turn
them into outputs, such as turning on an LED, publishing something
online, or activating a motor by supplying. The microcontroller on your
board has a set of instructions that you can instruct it on what to do.

1.1.4. Ultrasonic Sensor
An Ultrasonic transmitter, a receiver, and a control circuit. It emits
a high frequency sound wave and receives the echo reflected from a
target object. The distance is calculated based on the time interval
between sending the wave and receiving the echo.
1.1.5. Ultrasonic Humidifier Ceramic Atomizer Mist Maker
An Ultrasonic Humidifier Ceramic Atomizer Mist Maker is a
device that converts water into fine mist (fog) using ultrasonic vibrations.
It is commonly used in humidifiers, aroma diffusers, and industrial
applications like greenhouse humidification, disinfection systems, and
special effects.

1.1.6. Benefits of Dry Handwashing Machine by Fog
Disinfection
Unlike traditional hand washing methods, the device uses a
fogging process to effectively disinfect without requiring a lot of water,
thus reducing water consumption. The system uses IoT sensors to
monitor and control the disinfection process, ensuring user safety and
efficiency. The contactless operation, typically activated by motion
sensors, eliminates the need to touch taps or dispensers, reducing
cross-contamination risks.

1.2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
1.2.1. General Problem
Handwashing is a fundamental practice of well-maintained hygiene
to prevent of possible infections and diseases. But such procedure is not
consistently followed. A skeptical practice of hygiene can risk our fellow
students and even our school personnel to catch various diseases,
impacting the overall health of the school community. The lack of effective
hygiene can disrupt academic environment.
1.2.2. Specific Problems
1. Malpractice of Handwashing
Incorrect handwashing procedures can still infect many diseases
and harm students' overall health, influencing their culture of "proper
hygiene" and potentially lowering their academic performance.
2. Lack of Cleaning Agents for Handwashing in Restrooms
With hand sanitizers, hand soap and other handwashing products
being unavailable inside restrooms, students are more likely to skip
handwashing altogether or perform it inadequately, risking their proper
hygiene in a poor condition.

3. Excessive Water Consumption
Some students prefer to use a lot of water to rinse off while
handwashing, which can have an impact on both the environment and
water costs since pumping water takes a lot of energy and contributes
to greater carbon emissions.
4. Inadequate Hand Hygiene Policies
Some schools may lack clear policies or practices to promote
proper hand hygiene. Without clear instructions, students may fail to
comprehend the value of handwashing or when to do it throughout the
day.
