SOP Integration: Calibration and Verification Procedure for

Compression Testing Equipment
Purpose: To verify and calibrate the compression testing machine and
associated equipment in accordance with ASTM C39 and C617 to maintain
test accuracy and ISO/IEC 17025 compliance.

Scope: Applies to load frames, load cells, platens, speed controls, measuring
tools, and environmental controls used in compressive strength testing of
concrete cylinders.

Responsibilities:

 Lab Technician: Perform daily/periodic equipment verification and

checks.

 QA Officer: Schedule and maintain calibration records.

 Technical Manager: Approve equipment for use based on calibration

results.

Procedures:

 Calibrate load cells with certified weights annually.

 Measure platen dimensions and flatness per ASTM C39.

 Verify load application speed with timers.

 Ensure measuring tools are calibrated and traceable.

 Maintain environmental conditions and verify measurement devices.

Records:

 Use checklist form after each verification.

 Maintain calibration certificates and tracking logs.

 Review records annually or as required.
