Important instructions on DS-160 form for Nonimmigrant Visa Applicants

Effective December 15, 2024, submissions or changes to your DS-160 less than 7 days before
the interview date will result in the cancellation of your interview.

In order to improve and speed up the customer experience on the date of interview, the online DS-160
application form must be completed, submitted online and the DS160 number needs to be included in your
profile, no earlier than one year and no later than one week before the interview date. Applicants who provide
DS-160s that have been completed less than one week before the interview date may be turned away. This
new policy is effective from December 15, 2024.” “Example: Interview date is 01/08/2025, please complete the
DS-160 before 01/01/2025. However, if you have already completed a DS-160 within 1 year, you DO NOT
need to complete another one unless you receive an email from the consular section asking you to do so. Any
changes or corrections to the DS-160 that occur within one week of the interview should be identified to the
consular staff on the day of the interview.

Visa applicants MUST arrive no more than 15 minutes prior to their interview time. If you fail to arrive at the
Embassy at the scheduled entry time, you may be asked to cancel your appointment and reschedule to a new
date.

Security Instructions : You are not allowed to enter the U.S. Embassy while carrying any of the following items:

Battery-operated or electronic devices such as mobile phones, digital diaries, digital watches,
pagers, cameras, audio/video cassettes, compact discs, MP3s, floppy disks, laptops, or portable
music players
Large shoulder bags/purses - only bags that can be carried by hand will be permitted
Bags such as travel bags, backpacks, briefcases, suitcases, leather, cloth bags, and zip folders -
you can only carry plastic folders containing application-related papers
Food and liquid items
Sealed envelopes or packages. Please remove any documents necessary for your interview
from their envelopes before entering the U.S. Embassy.
Cigarettes, cigars, match boxes, lighters
Sharp objects such as scissors, pen knives or nail files
Weapons or explosive materials of any kind

Premium (Home) Delivery Option: Applicants who are issued a U.S. visa may have their passport delivered to their door step at
a nominal fee. This fee is payable in cash at the time of delivery of your passport to the Aramex courier delivery staff and
payment receipt will be handed over to you at the same time. For more information about premium home delivery, please

Passport Collection Process: Your appointment letter lists the pick-up location you chose when making the appointment. If your
visa is approved, you will receive an email and SMS when the passport would be ready to be collected. Please check your
spam and/or junk email folder on a regular basis, for important emails that may have been mistakenly filtered.

To collect your own passport, you must bring below documents:

1. An original government-issued photo ID and a photocopy of the ID;

2.
 2. A copy of your DS160 confirmation page or the Appointment letter along with above document is
recommended for speedy collection of passport at the counter.

Representative collecting passport:

Photocopy of Applicant's government-issued photo ID.

Authorization letter from the applicant in original.
DS160 confirmation page or Appointment confirmation letter is preferred for speedy collection.
Original government-issued photo ID of the authorized person with a copy.

All returned documents will be sent to the address selected when you scheduled for the interview appointment. If
you select home or office delivery, someone must be present when the courier comes to deliver your passport. For
timely delivery of documents, please ensure that all data is entered accurately.
Please note that passports not collected within 14 calendar days from the collection centers or within 10 calendar
days from the Aramex Courier (if applicable), will be RETURNED to the U.S. Embassy and applicants will need to
pick up their passports/documents directly from U.S. Embassy/Consulate. Follow the link for the Embassy

Important Note:

Government-issued photo ID can be a passport biographic information page, NID or driving license.
An ORIGINAL letter of authority must contain the following information:
Representative's full name as on their government-issued photo ID
Applicant’s name and Passport number
Should be signed in original by all applicants

If Husband is collecting passport/document on behalf of wife or vice-versa please bring relevant documents
as listed in the table above. Authority letter signed by spouse applicant in original is mandatory.
Children below 18 years of age will not be allowed to collect any/self-passport. An original letter of authority
signed by any one parent is mandatory if representative is collecting passport or any one parent in person
can collect a child passport with above required supporting documents.
Please bring a copy of your DS160 / Appointment confirmation letter along with above supporting
documents for speedy collection of passport at the counter.
