ADJECTIVES
I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, 100% of the students with 80% level of
proficiency shall be able to:
1. Determine what type of adjective is used in a sentence;
2. Construct sentences using adjectives; and
3. Express own ideas using the different types of adjectives.

B. Motivation
The teacher will present a two box. The first box is consisting the
number of students who is present, while the second box is filled with the
names of the students. The teacher will pick a number and that student
will pick out one name. Without telling the name written on the piece of
paper, he/ she will describe the person and the other students will start
guessing who he/she is referring to.

2. Lesson Proper
Adjectives
An adjective is defined as a word used to modify a noun.

Functions:
o It limits or qualifies nouns or pronouns by telling what kind, which
one, how many or how much
o It allows writers to describe color, tastes, shapes, sizes and a
multitude of other qualities
o It can add important details to a sentence
Types of Adjectives
1. Descriptive Adjectives
-simply say something about the quality or the kind of the noun or
pronoun they are referring to.
Examples:
• Erika is witty.
• I love green vegetables.
• Put your things on a square box.
Give some examples of descriptive adjectives.
2. Quantitative Adjectives
-it answers the question “how much” or “how many”
Examples:
• She has one daughter.
I can’t believe I ate the whole cake! There are some birds

in the tree.

3.Demonstrative adjectives
-it describes “which” noun or pronoun you are referring to. These
adjectives include the words:
• This- used to refer to a singular noun close to you
• That- used to refer to a singular noun far from you
• These- used to refer to a plural noun close to you
• Those- used to refer to a plural noun far from you
Give some examples of demonstrative adjectives.
3.Application
Scavenger Hunt
Direction:
The teacher will divide the class into three (3) groups. Each team will be
given a list consisting a specific type of adjectives. They will be hunting an
object or thing within the classroom and the hallway.
The students will clearly describe their findings, noting both the object and
the adjective it represents. They have 20 minutes. The students can write
down their findings or, if appropriate, collect the objects. The team who will
be finish first will be the winner.
Team 1: Demonstrative Adjectives: There job is to find examples of objects that
fit the words "this," "that," "these," and "those." Remember, these words point to
specific things. They need to find at least one example for EACH word.
Team 2: Quantitative Adjectives: They will be focusing on quantity. Their task is
to find objects that represent "one," "two," "many," "few," and "several." They need
at least one example for EACH word.
Team 3: Descriptive Adjectives: They need to find a specific object categorized by
color, size, shape, texture, etc. Their goal is to find at least ONE example for EACH
category on their list.

What is an adjective?
Enumerate the different types of adjective.
Define each type.
5. Evaluation
Create a bookmark with the name and description of your friend
or someone whom you want to dedicate it. Give it to him/her
afterwards.
6. Assignment
Direction: Using the graphic organizer, describe your
favorite teacher.
