How to write notes
The Golden Rules of Note-Taking
. Use Active Language Don’t copy your book—transform it. Rephrase
definitions, explain processes in your own words, and highlight
keywords.
. Structure it Visually
○ Use headings and bullet points
○ Add mind maps, flowcharts, or tables for quick-glance review
○ Color-code: e.g. blue for facts, red for formulas, green for

examples
. Chunk It Up Break big topics into smaller bites. Like in Bio: >
"Respiration" → Types → Aerobic vs Anaerobic → Equations →
Diagram
. Incorporate Diagrams & Mnemonics Especially for Biology and
Computer Science—draw it to learn it. And create silly acronyms or
phrases to help you remember tricky sequences!
. Leave Space Always skip a few lines between points so you can add
extra examples or teacher comments later.
. Summarize Each Page End each topic with 3 bullet points: What it
is Why it matters One key example or question

Bonus Tip: Go Digital or Paper?

● Paper notes help you remember better while writing
● Digital notes (like OneNote or Notion) are great for organizing +
revising on the go Choose whichever keeps you consistent. Or mix
both!
