Hello everbody, we are students from University of Technology and Education.

Today we gonna visit three

iconic destination of HCM city. Here are our group members included:…
Firstly, my group decide to visit the Independence palace, a historic landmark of Ho Chi Minh City which is
located at the central of district 1. This iconic building witnessed one of the most significant moments in
Vietnamese history – the end of the War Against America of Vietnam. In the present day, it is also known as
one of the most popular tourist attraction in HCM city.
The Independence palace was built on February 23rd , 1868 and completed in 1871, follow Western-Eastern
combined design.
According to the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, the Independence palace was claimed by Vietcong soldier
after Saigon Radio broadcast RVN President Duong Van Minh’s declaration of unconditional surrender and
transfer of power to the Provisional Revolutionary Government.
The palace grounds, with their lush gardens and serene ponds, provide a peaceful contrast to the building's
historical significance. It's a place where visitors can relax and contemplate the past. As you can see, this is
the tank which broke down the gate of the Independence palace in 1975.
After that we go inside the palace and we were impressed by the space here . It is massive and glorious with
many rooms such as The credentials room, Library, Strategic Operations Department room, Residence of the
Presidential Family, the basement, the rooftop, kitchen,…
By the time we visit, there are many visitors and most of them are foreigners and Vietnamese teenagers who
are keen on learning about Vietnamese history. Today, the Independence Palace stands as a testament to
Vietnam's resilience and its journey towards peace and unity. It's a must-visit destination for anyone
interested in the country's history and culture.
My name is Khánh and I will continue introducing our second destination which is WRM at 28 Vo Van Tan,
Ward 6, District 3, Ho Chi Minh city.
First is about the history about this place. Few people know that this land is the place where King Minh
Mang born in 1971. It was named Khai Tuong Pagoda to record great goodness proving the place of long-
term blessings.

On 18/12/1859, the French occupied as a stronghold, renamed it after the name of their captain name which
is Barbé.
In 1869, Barbé Fort, the remaining frame of the Khai Tuong Pagoda, was destroyed to make way for colonial
structures.
Later, on this abandoned pagoda land, the French built a mansion for officials in the ruling apparatus.
During the reign of President Ngo Dinh Diem, this place was used as the University of Medicine and
Pharmacy.
On September 4, 1975, the revolutionary government established here the American-Wei Crime Gallery. On
10/11/1990, the name was changed to the Exhibition House of War Crimes of Aggression. On July 4, 1995,
it was officially transformed into the War Remnants Museum until now.
The War Remnants Museum is a museum specializing in researching, collecting, storing, preserving and
displaying documents, images and artifacts about the evidence of crimes and the consequences of the wars
that the invading forces have inflicted on Vietnam. Thereby, the Museum educates the public, especially the
young generation, about the spirit of struggle to protect the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, the
sense of fighting against war of aggression, protecting peace and the spirit of solidarity and friendship among
peoples around the world.

The museum preserves more than 20,000 documents, artifacts and films, of which more than 1,500
documents, artifacts and films have been introduced in 09 regular exhibition topics. Currently, with more
than 1 million visitors per year, the War Remnants Museum is one of the highly attractive cultural and tourist
addresses, trusted by the public at home and abroad.

On September 5, 2018, the international travel website Trip Advisor honored the best museums in the world
in 2018 (Travelers' Choice Awards for Museums 2018)

Ben Thanh Market

Ben Thanh Market is a market located in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The market was started in 1912, the
image of the clock at the south gate of this market is considered an unofficial symbol of Ho Chi Minh City.
The market is located between Phan Boi Chau - Phan Chu Trinh – Quach Thi Trang Square in Ben Thanh
Ward with an area of 13,056 m².
History
Old Ben Thanh Market (before 1911): The early Ben Thanh Market existed before the French invaded Gia
Dinh. Initially, the market was located on the bank of the Ben Nghe River, next to a river wharf near Gia
Dinh Citadel. The trading place is busy, there is a horizontal ferry wharf carrying merchants at sea, gathering
hundreds of goods, along the river wharf, large and small merchant ships come to dock continuously. After
the French invaded Gia Dinh, Ben Thanh market was also burned down. And it took a year for the market to
be restored at the same location.
New Ben Thanh Market (From 1912 to the present): After a long time of use, the old market has been
severely deteriorated, the stalls have begun to rot and are in danger of collapsing at any time. Therefore,
France chose a new location to build a larger market to serve the needs of busier trade. The new market area
was originally an old swampy shirt called Bo Ret pond and was filled in by France to build a market. In
1912, the market was built by the French construction contractor Brossard et Maupin and took 2 years to
complete. The architecture of the previous design has been retained despite going through a lot of
controversy and repairs.
