Doctor, teacher, police officer, singer, baker, chef, accountant.
Actually, I could mention all the jobs here,
but they aren’t worth anything if you don’t work to achieve them. A dream will always remain a dream
unless you start working on it.
As William Shakespeare said ‘We know what we are, but we don’t know what we could be’, we get the
idea that future is uncertain. We may have a clear understanding of who we are at present, but we cannot
predict what the future holds.
Think about it. Right now, each of us believes that we have everything under control. We know who we are
at this very moment. But what about the future? What about tomorrow or next week or next year? It is
uncertain and filled with endless possibilities. As Peter Drucker said, "You cannot predict the future, but
you can create it." Our future is shaped by the decisions we make and the actions we take, each one
working to our growth from who we are to who we could become. We could also quote Albert Einstein’s
famous words: "Genius is 1% talent and 99% hard work." If you don’t work, you won’t have a result.
I enjoy reading and I realized that our lives are like a book. Each year is a chapter and each day is a page.
Some books have many chapters, while others have just some pages. We don’t know how many chapters
are in our book, but we do know at what page we currently are. As an 8 th grader, I feel like I’m somewhere
in the early chapters of my own story, a part of the narrative where the characters are still figuring out who
they are and where they’re going. Later on, we get to decide what character we want to be in our story—if
we want to be the villain or the hero. We can choose to be the hero of our own story. We decide if we
want to fight for our dreams and what we want to become. Not every story ends the way we hope, but we
can still do our best to make our own ending a good one. With effort and wise choices, we can create a
bright future. It may take time, but each step brings us closer to our goals. We have the strength to
overcome challenges and shape the life we desire.
When I was four, I wanted to become a doctor to help people, so I started taking care of my dolls. Then, I
wanted to be a teacher like my mom, so I began teaching my little sister. Now, I aspire to be a translator,
and I’m working on learning new languages. When I was four, and even now, I’m trying to make my
dreams a reality. I wonder what I will finally become. As I said, the future is uncertain, and I may change my
mind, but that doesn’t really matter; I still have time. I could be many things, but I know who I am right
now. Even if I don’t become a doctor, I can still take care of people. Even if I don’t become a teacher, I can
still teach others. Even if I don’t become a translator, I can still use my language skills in many other areas.
Although the future is unknown, I know who I am at the moment. Right now, I’m a girl trying to do my best
for myself and for other people.
This quote is not about who we are, it's about what we can become if we plan wisely and put in effort.
These simple words that I tried to explain carry a world of meaning. The beauty of life is that our chapters
aren’t fixed. As we move forward, let’s embrace the uncertainty of our own narratives. Let’s write bold,
unforgettable chapters and become the kind of characters who inspire others. Because life is like a book
written by us. And each of us holds the pen.
Thank you!
