First Aid Kit Supplies
The availability of First Aid kits with appropriate content must be ensured at all BASF sites for initial
treatment of minor and severe injuries.
The equipment and number of First Aid kits should be chosen with consideration of the:
• availability of other health services
• number of workers, and
• workplace specific hazards at the site.
First Aid kits should always be easily accessible and located near areas where accidents could
occur. It should be possible to access them within one or two minutes.
Each First Aid kit must be assigned to a responsible party to ensure that the kit is maintained and
fully stocked.
The kit container should:
• protect the contents from heat, humidity and dust.
• be clearly labeled with the words "First Aid" and with a cross or a crescent on a contrasting
background, and
• be lockable, but also kept accessible.
First Aid Kit Contents
Simple medications may be kept in the kit (e.g. analgesics or antacids), only if there is no First Aid
room or plant clinic at the site. Nothing should be provided that is not available for purchase by the
