Mono Cablehead Assembly

Geovista Mono Cablehead Assembly
Parts List:

1- Cut cable neatly and thread it through the cable-end body, the rope
socket (RS) outer sleeve and the rope socket inner sleeve respectively.

2- Hold the cable lightly in vice, just below the inner RS cone, leaving
approximately 120 mm of cable sticking out

3- Unwind cable strands (inner and outer) on by one. Fold back

every other one tightly over the RS cone. Cut every other strand
flush with the top of the RS cone.
NOTE: for co-axial cable only, leave two of the inner armour
strands. These would be joined to the coaxial screen

4- Slide up the outer RS sleeve over the folded wires.

5- Support the outer sleeve and hammer in (carefully) the inner

cone so as to clamp the armour strands. The inner cone
should
only protrude from the outer sleeve by approximately 5mm

6- Cut the armour strands flush with the bottom of the outer sleeve
6- Screw the feed-through into the
sonde-end body using the special tool

7. Cut back the cable, leaving approximately 80mm from the top of the washer
[the length should be sufficient to allow for the boot to fit over the fitted feed-
through].

8. Slide the washer over the RS.

For co-axial cables only:

- Strip back the screen leaving approximately 10mm from the top of the
washer.
- Untwist the stripped screen cable and crimp it to the remaining
2 armour strands, at about 20mm above the washer.
- Trim remaining strands and screen as necessary.

9. Slide the black rubber boot then the teflon insert over the centre
conductor wire.

10. Strip away 5mm of insulation and crimp the feed-through socket
on it

11. Slide the boot over the crimped socket. Cover the screen crimp
with self-amalgamating tape.

12. Place the cable head nut over the sonde end body.

13. Connect the boot and socket to the feed-through

Screw together the cable end body with the sonde end body as follows:
- hold the cable in the vice
- hold the sonde-end body still
- rotate the cable end body until fully tightened [this avoids twisting the feed-through
cable].

14. Tighten the two locking grub screws

15. Fit the two 0131-16 O-rings smearing them with a thin layer of silicon grease.
