LSVA602: Data Analysis Using Excel
Introduction The use of Excel is widespread in the industry. It is a very powerful data analysis
tool and almost all big and small businesses use Excel in their day-to-day functioning. This is an
introductory course in the use of Excel and is designed to give you a working knowledge of Excel
with the aim of getting to use it for more advance topics in Business Statistics later.
Objectives:
The objective of the course is to help students integrate their learning from functional
areas, decision making process in an organization and role of data analysis using Excel

Course Outcomes: After completion of course, the student will be able to:
✵ Understand the fundamentals of Microsoft Excel and its role in business
data analysis.
✵ Apply basic and advanced Excel functions for data cleaning,
transformation, and manipulation.
✵ Perform descriptive statistical analysis using Excel tools (e.g., pivot
tables, charts, summary statistics).
✵ Use Excel to conduct predictive analysis including regression,
forecasting, and trend analysis.
✵ Solve business problems through data-driven decision-making using
scenario analysis and solver tools.
