and other axioms),
(a) All real numbers with group operation as multiplication,
(b) All real numbers with group operation as addition,
(c) All complex numbers except zero with group operation as multiplication,
(d) All positive rational numbers with group operation as division (for a * b = a/b),
(e) Group of integers with group operation as subtraction.

Q2: Find the symmetry group of,

(a) Regular Tetrahedron,
(b) Regular Hexagon

Q3: Show that the following statements are true,

(a) For finite groups the order of an element divides the order of the group.
(b) Show that the groups which have prime number order are cyclic.
(c) Show using the re-arrangement theorem that the only possible groups of order 4 must be
abelian.
(d) There is a unique inverse to each element in the group.
(e) The identity element in a group is unique.

Q4: Find the conjugate classes of the symmetry groups S4 and S5 .

Q5: In class we have discussed about the Cayley theorem and the Lagrange theorem. Write
down the proofs for these theorems using the concepts discussed in the classes.
