1. Executive Summary

The "Hope in Every Bag" initiative is a targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project
designed to improve educational access and learning outcomes among students in government
schools across Raigarh, Chhattisgarh. The project aims to provide 1000 school bags, each
equipped with essential academic materials, hygiene kits, STEM learning tools, and a bilingual
Hindi-English dictionary, to students from Classes 5 to 8.

This initiative is grounded in the recognition that thousands of students in Raigarh's government
schools face serious resource deficits that hinder their educational journey. Many children come
from economically disadvantaged tribal and rural families who struggle to afford basic school
supplies. Often, students attend classes without bags, notebooks, or pens, and carry their books
in plastic covers or old cloth bags. This lack of proper materials affects their confidence,
motivation, and dignity, and frequently leads to irregular attendance or even school dropouts.

The situation is exacerbated in remote areas, where children may walk long distances to reach
school and lack access to clean water, electricity, or basic infrastructure. Teachers in these
schools report that without basic learning tools, students are unable to participate fully in
classroom activities or complete homework. Many also lack literacy support at home, making
educational progress even more challenging.

In this context, the "Hope in Every Bag" will serve as more than just a school supply—it will be a
symbol of care, encouragement, and opportunity. It will reaffirm to children and their families that
education matters and that their journey is supported. The project intends to bridge the
educational material gap, improve classroom engagement, and motivate consistent school
attendance. In doing so, it will contribute meaningfully to the larger goal of equitable, inclusive,
and quality education for all.

2. Background and Context

Raigarh district, situated in the northern region of Chhattisgarh, is known for its mineral wealth
and industrial significance. Despite this economic potential, the educational landscape in the
region remains underdeveloped, particularly in rural and tribal areas. The district has a significant
tribal population, many of whom live below the poverty line. Access to basic education, let alone
quality learning resources, remains a challenge for thousands of children.

Numerous schools in the region report inadequate supplies, high student-teacher ratios, and
limited parental engagement. Many children arrive at school without bags, notebooks, or even
writing instruments, which leads to diminished motivation, low self-esteem, and increased dropout
rates. The situation is direr among girls, who often lack access to hygiene products and other
basic necessities that support regular school attendance.

Research shows that the provision of basic educational materials can significantly improve school
retention and performance. In this context, the distribution of well-equipped school bags can serve
as a catalyst for change, encouraging attendance, engagement, and learning among students in
these marginalized communities.

3. Project Objectives

The primary goal of the "Hope in Every Bag" project is to provide 1000 school bags filled with
essential learning, hygiene, and STEM materials to students studying in Classes 5 to 8 in
government schools across Raigarh district.

Specific Objectives:

● To enhance access to essential school supplies for underserved students.

● To support STEM education through the inclusion of a basic STEM kit in each bag.

● To promote literacy by providing a bilingual Hindi-English dictionary and storybook.

● To improve hygiene awareness through personal care items.

● To foster motivation and regular school attendance by boosting student morale.

4. Target Group

The target beneficiaries of this initiative will include:

● 1000 students studying in Classes 5 to 8

● Students enrolled in government and government-aided schools

● Children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds

● Priority to be given to schools in tribal-dominated and rural areas of Raigarh district
