GUIDELINES FOR 2025 CYON REGIONAL QUIZ COMPETITION

1. Syllabus: 4 documents shall be read, they are 1 Hebrew chapter 1-13; Catechism
of the Church (CCC) Paragraph 1700-1845; Igbo catechism (ash color tick cover)
page 87-122 and 2025 pastoral letter.
2. Date of Competition: The competition shall be held as follows: 4th May shall be
Parish level, 11th May shall be the Zonal level and 18th shall be the Regional level.
3. Registration: It is compulsory that every parish shall register with sum of N2000
whether or not you are participating. Registration starts on 9th February, 2025 while
Deadline for the registration shall be on 13th April, 2025 being next Regional
meeting. Penalty of N10,000 awaits any parish that does not register.
4. Participation: Only the registered parishes shall participate in the competition.
None participation attracts the fine of N10,000.
5. Uniform: All the participants shall put on CYON National uniform (Abada) or
Archdiocesan polo with black down, no more no less, or stand to be disqualified.
6. Qualification: Only the three parishes that secured first, Second and Third
position in each level of the competition shall qualify for the next level.
7. Time of the competition: Each day competition begins by 12noon. Meanwhile,
the grace of 30mins may be given to the parish that has not reported to the arena as
at the time. Note that this grace shall not exceed 12:30pm.
8. Number of Representatives: Each participating parish shall be represented by
maximum of 10 persons and minimum of 7 persons. Any parish less than 7
representatives shall be disqualified.
9. Number of Questions to answer: 3 participants shall answer 2 questions each
from the Baibulu Nso, 3 participants shall answer 2 questions each from the CCC, 2
participants shall answer 2 questions each from the Igbo Catechism, 2 participants
shall answer 2 questions each from the Pastoral letter, according to the sitting
arrangement.
10. Sitting arrangement: 10 persons representing a parish shall be seated according
to the documents read. Note: it is not TEAM WORK, as each person is to answer
individually.
11. Awarding of points: Each question answered correctly attracts 2 points. If not
answered at the satisfaction of the judge may attract half mark of the point. No bonus
shall be entertained in this competition.
12. Picking of folded numbers: Each parish, before the kick-off of the competition,
shall pick a folded number by their captain, to determine who shall be the first to
answer. Also every participant shall pick a folded number for his/her lucky questions,
and must step out of their seat to answer while facing the judge.
13. Duration of time: 30seconds shall be allowed for each question. In case of
repetition of the question, the time Starts after the second question.
14. Choice of Language: The first round, comprising of Baibulu Nso, shall be
answered in Igbo (But the question involving quotation shall be answered in English)
and the second round to be answered either in Igbo Or English. The judge shall be
strict on asking the question as it is in the question paper without translation, while
the participant can choose to answer in vernacular.
15. Code is Conduct: The judge shall make sure that every parish complies with
these rules for a peace atmosphere. Should there be any controversy in the question
answered, there shall be consultation of the concerned documents for verification.
No parish shall be found causing trouble, lest such parish shall be disqualified. Any
prompting to help your fellow participant already in the standout shall attract
disqualification. Behave yourself while in the line-up for your parish.
16. Judges: A zonal Co-ordinator/ Parishioner MUST NOT be a JUDGE in his own
zone. He/she may act otherwise o Lu when his/her parish/zone is not participating
in the competition. An external body must be invited mostly at the finale.
17. Venue for Hosting: Parish level will be done at parishes that registered. Zonal
level will hold at parishes listed below:
i. Atani Zone:
ii. St. Theresa Akili New Heaven Zone:
iii. St. Charles Lwanga Okpoko Iyiowa Zone:
iv. St. Gregory de Great Parish Iyiowa Odekpe.
To minimize waste of time and save the participants some stress, competition MUST
NOT be hosted in parishes that did not register, as that is a clear indication that they
are not interested.
18. Distribution of materials: Distribution of the materials to be used for the
competition will be collected by Regional president.
19. Account for Payment: All parishes are advised to make payment for the
forthcoming Quiz to account number below for electronic transfers and forward the
receipt to CYON regional platform for confirmation. For cash payments contact the
