AGC-200 VS DEEPSEA 7510 COMPARISON

Load dependant Start/Stop (LDSS)
DSE7510 has:
1) LD Start level (e.g. 80 % of nominal power)
2) LD Stop level (e.g. 70 % of nominal power)

AGC 200 has:

1) LD Start level (e.g. 80 % of nominal power)
2) LD Stop level (e.g. 70 % of nominal power)
3) LD Start level (e.g. 80 % of nominal apparent power)
4) LD Stop level (e.g. 70 % of nominal apparent power)
5) LD Start level (e.g. 200 kW)
6) LD Start level (e.g. 200 kVAR)

DSE solution work for 2 or 3 DG system, but for more gensets DSE will not be sufficient.
For example:
We have a 5 DG 1 MW system. The biggest load can jump to 200 kW.

DSE7510 settings:
LD Start 80 % (when one DG is running we have min 200 kW available)
LD Stop 70 %
When load is 3200 kW => 5 DG will be running

AGC-200 setting:
LD Start at 200 kW
When load is 3200 kW => 4 DG will be running.

Ground relay
AGC-200 has Ground relay where as DSE7510 does not.

The purpose of this function is to always let the star point of only one gen-set be
connected to ground during island mode operation. The reason for this is to avoid
circulating currents between the generators. The function is adjusted in menu 8120.
The AGC which has the lowest can ID and where the generator breaker is closed will close
its ground relay. Should this gen-set stop, it will open its ground relay when the generator
breaker opens, and the ground relay of the generator which now has the lowest can ID closes
its ground relay instead.

DSE write Control over the neutral earthing is not made by the DSE controller. Provision for
this function must be made by external switching, often utilizing auxiliary contacts of the

4
load switching devices.
DSE will normally require a PLC for systems with 3-4 DG or more to control the ground
connection.

Close before excitation

AGC-200 has “close before excitation” feature where as DSE7510 has not.

It is possible to adjust the AGC-200 to start up the Gen-set with the excitation switched
off. When the gen-sets are started up, then the breakers will be closed and the
excitation started.

It is also possible to close the breaker before the engine is started. This function called “close
before excitation.”

The purpose of the “close before excitation” is that the Gen-sets can be ready for the load
very quickly. All of the gen-sets will be connected to the busbar as soon as
they are started, and as soon as the excitation is switched on the Gen-sets are ready
for operation. This is faster than the normal synchronizing, because in that case
the breakers will not be closed until the generator voltage is in the synchronized
position, and it takes some time to achieve that position.

The “close before start” function can also be used, if the load requires a “soft” start.
This can be the case when the Gen-sets are connected to a transformer.
As soon as the excitation is activated, the generators will equalize the voltage and
frequency and will eventually run in a synchronized system.
When the excitation is activated, then the regulators of the AGC will be switched on after an
adjustable delay. It can also be used as magnetization of transformers.

Load shedding
AGC-200 has load shedding feature in compare to DSE7510 (not available).

The trip of Non Essential Load (NEL) groups (load shedding) is carried out in order to
protect the busbar against an imminent blackout situation due to either a high load/current or
overload on a generator set or a low busbar frequency.

The unit is able to trip the three NEL groups due to:
1) the measured load of the generator set (high load and overload)
2) the measured current of the generator set
3) the measured frequency at the busbar

The load groups are tripped as three individual load groups. This means that the trip of
load group no. 1 has no direct influence on the trip of load group no. 2. Only the
measurement of either the busbar frequency or the load/current on the generator set is
able to trip the load groups.

Trip of the NEL groups due to the load of a running generator set will reduce the load

5
on the busbar and thus reduce the load percentage on the running generator set. This may
prevent a possible blackout at the busbar caused by an overload on the running
generator set. The current trip will be selected in case of inductive loads and unstable
power factor (PF <0.7) where the current is increased.

Trip of the NEL groups due to a low busbar frequency will reduce the real power load
at the busbar and thus reduce the load percentage on the generator set.
This may prevent a possible blackout at the busbar:
1) If there is no load tie breaker in AMF applications
2) If DG starts to shut down and then avoid black out

GOV / AVR outputs

AGC-200 has relays inside the unit and can supply 0-20 mA and 0-10 V from an IOM
module in which are connected to the J1939 CAN communication.
DSE7510 has BUILT-IN GOVERNOR AND AVR CONTROL, Fully Isolated and can
supply + / - 10V DC

Programmable Logic

AGC 200 is available

In emergency systems where require extra operation reliability, redundant CANbus

communication lines can be used to provide back-up.

History log
DSE7510 has 25 events history log

AGC-200 has 150 events history log.

AGC-200 also provides a life time log in which stored at the SD Card (if it is installed).
The history log at the SD Card gives a possibility to recover the events log even the unit is
damaged.

eGenKit is usually installed in the generator panel and is integrated with generator
controllers via Modbus RTU – RS485 communication protocol. The transmission of the
generators parameters to the server will be via two options of connectivity, one is via
GPRS and the other is via LAN (Ethernet RJ-45 port). At the moment the server is
located in Singapore (Power Instruments will host the server). Once the information is
stored in the server, users can log in to the eGenKit server to perform remote
monitoring and control to generators. Next, if the alarms triggered in generator
controllers, eGenKit will send SMS and email alerts to the recipients.

In addition, beside remote monitoring and alarms management systems, users can also
send control command from the server back to the generators (i.e. remote start/stop
generators). eGenKit also provide the GPS tracking systems via satellite to monitor the
position of the generators and if the generators are moved outside certain set radius,
eGenKit will alert the recipients through SMS and email. Finally, eGenKit provides the
comprehensive solution to monitor and control generators remotely with its data
logging features to store all the information for recording purposes up to 180 days.
