14 short years spent themselves in the blink of an eye.
The bright
Red of our little tunics leisurely faded without notice into a white.
Having lost its hue, we at last gave up frocks and turned to wearing
suits instead. It was a season of renovation, we built and rebuilt
ourselves from the very foundation of our being, however, one thing
endured both the fair and the cold weather, that one blazing fire
that kept our brittle hearts warm even as we ran barefoot in the
wildest winters, one which evermore stood firm and secure, our
School, our Convent Of Jesus & Mary.
A pleasant morning to all present, our principal, Sr. Alice, teachers
and my beloved friends. Before beginning, I apologize to all, for my
throat betrays me today. As I was walking to the hall, I heard the
corridors whisper, the swings murmured with a heaviness and my
classroom talked aloud. It said, ‘This might be your last time
running down those stairs, delivering a speech, adorning this
symbol of pride and duty, but I remember your first. That
unresolved fight, that suppressed laughter and the secret tears, I
will forever remember.’
CJM has always been regarded as the institute of dreams by many,
but what made this fantasy of an edifice a beautiful reality for us all,
were some people, coincidently, the ones here in this hall today.
Dear Sr, despite the little time we had together, you effortlessly
made home in our hearts. Your constant endeavors to make our
lives better, brought forth a wave of innovation whether it be
through the various lively events or the first ever elections for our
student body and we all happily rest your debtors. Dear teachers, it
would be beyond preposterous to think that everything you have
done for us or even its quarter, can be repaid with a play of few
words, but pray, one last time, feel the sincerity behind our words
when we say ‘thankyou for everything’. You’ll never know how your
smile gave us assurance against the world’s criticism, you’ll never
know how your ‘its okay’ turned the turmoil within us into calm and
you’ll never know how your, “you gave your best and that’s what
matters” brought us happiness no trophy or reward in this world
could win. As we leave, we leave with nothing but love, unparalleled
respect and a precious burden of gratitude for all the wisdom you
imparted.
This year, we were also blessed to have the best juniors. It was a
beautiful journey that we had, wasn’t it? Today, I speak to you, on
behalf of entire class 12, as any elder sister would to her younger.
This year was, because you were. You were our cheerleaders when
we were lost in self-doubt, our delight in sorrow, reminder of
innocence in corruption, sometimes partners in, other times against
crime. Thankyou for all that and the lovely gift of today.
Fellow mates. I may have problems with my vision but I can well
see the moisture in your eyes, lets blame the weather. Now, at the
end of our career as students we have an opportunity to find and
pursue our passions, to “Leave a Legacy.” Our time here will not be
remembered by our popularity, our likes and dislikes but by our
relationships. The kind of person we were. These are legacies, the
kind we must leave. Batch of 2023, its been a hashtagSplendid12-14
years with you and from the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the
very, very, very best.
Thankyou.
