the person. If the strength is on the positive side i.e. if we find more
bad influences than good ones, we find that the native may not possess
much money and even be immersed in debts. When any of the lords
of 2nd, 9th and 11th are posited in the angle of Moon, the native
becomes very rich.

Role of 8th house


Honour comprises two aspects (1) a positive aspect denoted by the
lagna and the 10th house (2) a negative aspect denoted by the 8th
house. The first requisite in a horoscope, for freedom from disgrace
and dishonour, is, that the 8th house should be unoccupied, or be
occupied only by benefics and the 8th house lord should be weak and
indeed weaker than the lord of Ascendant or the 10th lord. The lord
of 6th and 8th houses are responsible for the most of the intense
miseries of life. The debility of the 8th and 6th house should preferably
be in 3, 6 or 12 or it should be weakened by debilitation. According
to Pulippani Muni 8th lord in 3rd cancels evils and preserves longevity
too. When 8th lord is also a lord of a better house, it should occupy
the same better house or he should by a good Parivarthana (exchange)
avoid the evil of the 8th house.

For example for Scorpio, Mercury lord of 8th and 11th may be in
11th or Mercury may be in Lagna with Mars in 11th, when by one
stroke, due to Parivarthana of 8 and 11th lords, the evil of the 8th lord
Mercury and 6th lordship of Mars is almost cancelled.

The 8th house being occupied or aspected by a benefic is a


great factor for the avoidance of all that is undesirable. The sloka
is 'Subha Grahanam Sambandho Randhre Paribhave Nahi'. If the
lord of 8th in uncombined with Jupiter or unsuspected by Jupiter,
and is in a Kendra or trikona and is stronger than the lords of
Ascendant and 10th lord, the man suffers disgrace and painful
humiliation. Many high placed persons with Saturn or Rahu or Mars
or other malefic in 8th do suffer scandals, especially when this 8th
house is unaspected by natural benefics.

So the first requisite for honour is the 8th house unspoilt by malefic
occupation unless there is the strong aspect of a strong benefic and the
8th house lord being weaker than the ascendant and 10th lords.

According to Jathaka Parijata, Parvata Yoga arises when the Kendras


are occupied by benefics and if 6th and 8th house are unoccupied or
occupied by benefics. Such a man gets wide fame.
