Introduction
Computer evolution has played an extreme part towards shaping the modern generation of
people in society. These newly developed computing has taken the world with its advanced
technology and capabilities towards the modern day of computer technology. It began from
uncomplicated machine-like devices to highly developed and improved intelligent retrieval
systems (AI). Moreover, the enlargement of these devices has transfigured businesses, enhanced
communication between family, friends peers and even strangers, it has also transformed
everyone’s lives. As years progress, computing has advanced through diverse aspects,
characterized by remarkable technological developments that enhanced performances, quickness
and obtainability.
Early To Recent Stages Of Computer Evolution
Mechanical Stage:
The Early Era – In this early stage of development computers were originally visualize as
machine-like devices consists of cogs and gears. In the 19th century, the first automatic
computing engine was designed by Charles Babbage, which illustrates the first era.
Hardware Stage:
This semiconductor uprising (1950-1960) - During this era, semiconductors had
made digital computers very useful, leading to the growth of establishments like IBM, which
controlled the hardware feature of computing.
Software Stage:
The software emergence (1970-1980) – In this era, the hardware become more
dependable and the focus switched to software evolution. Well known companies such as
Microsoft created software that would make computing more approachable.
Personal Computing Stage:
The user centric computing (1980-1990) – In this era, computers became more
private, with user interfaces arranged for individual computer users. Furthermore, the world wide
web transfigured the internet into a easily operated platform for user-friendly needs and access.
Social Computing Stage
The community incorporation (2000-2025) – Eventually, as years progress
computing has advanced to assist online Communities, combining socialization/social
engagement into high-tech platforms and offer individual’s needs of interest. Therefore,
platforms such as Facebook represent this stage. This last generation is where technology
improves community evolvement and socialization.
