Magazine types: (bilingual magazine)
(Choose one of these following types)
- Type 1: Economy
- Type 2: Environment
- Type 3: Healthcare
- Type 4: Science and Technology

Related Activities:
- Read magazines, newspapers for reference
- Choose texts which belong to one of the four topics (Economy, Environment,
Healthcare, Science and Technology). For example, if students decide to make an
economic magazine, all the texts they select need to be on the same topic- economy.
Each text is at least of 380-420 word length (maximum 460 words)
- Preview the selected texts (identify the main ideas, sources, the writer’s main
purposes, intended readers and writing style)
- Read related articles for vocabulary range or structures
- Find English or Vietnamese equivalents for words and phrases
- Analyze sentence structures to understand their meaning
- Create catchy titles, headlines
- Translate news, articles, advertisements, inventions, and documents related to the
given topics into English or Vietnamese.
- Assess and comment the translated versions in groups
- Edit translated versions
- All the texts must be posted on the Internet after 01/6/2023

- Apply technical facilities
- Draw or design the cover of the magazine, decorate the magazine
- Present the final product
- Write and submit a group report every two weeks
Requirements for a magazine:
15-20 pages
A4 paper size
Front size: 12 in maximum (titles and headlines can be larger)
Printed, not handwritten version
At least two types of text for each column
Basic layout (Cover pages, Contents, Editorial, Address to contact, adverts,
quotations, etc)
Pictures do not take more than 30 - 40 % of the main content for each page
Assessment
Group assessment: 40%
- Reports: (20%) Collected materials, timetable for group meeting each week, and
work details

Does it reveal a good process of preparation & translation?
Is the work distributed equally among group members?
- Printed magazine with full cover: format & organization (20%)
+Criteria:
Is it various in writing style?
Is the design of the magazine logical or in good appearance?
Does it violate the social norms and correctness?
Are the texts of various types?
Individual assessment: (60%)
- Compulsory: At least 2 Translated texts (1 English text, 1 Vietnamese text)
- Optional: Bonus Marks: News + Advertisement + Fun Fact + Games
+Criteria:
Is it various in writing style?
Are the structures and vocabulary exploited suitable to readers and writers?
Is the content of the articles well designed and grammatically correct?
Are there any spelling mistakes?
Are the titles and headlines catchy?
Are there any signs of plagiarism?
Does the translation convey the information in the source text precisely?
Is the translation understandable and clear enough to the readers?
Is the translation natural? (Is it close to native speaker and does it use the
grammatical forms, syntax and cultural factors ordinarily used in the target
language?)
Does the translation use appropriate linking words and punctuation?
