SCENE ONE

Father: What is even going on in this house? Why can’t you do something right?
All I wanted was for you to do well academically.
Erik: But Daddy am trying my best.
Father Obviously your best is not enough. Just read and pass your exam but no!
you chose to be a useless boy, a fool, an idiot.
Erik: if I am an idiot, then you are the father of an idiot.
Father: How dare you? (He slaps him)
Erica: father why are you doing this? Why can’t I meet peace each time I enter
here?
Father: Will you shut up Erica. If you weren’t my favorite, I would have slapped
you into your mother’s womb. Erick you should learn from your sister.
Erik: learn what exactly?
Father: Erica is intelligent, Smart and Bright but you, you are the opposite of it all.
Since you came you have been bringing me shame. A successful business man

Destiny: Don’t you dare call my son names. Why do you hate him so much? (She
drop a plate of orange and knife)
Father: Woman: good thing you are here, I have one good question for you. Who
Is the father of this baboon you call a son because he is not my blood?
Destiny: (slaps him) How dare you insinuate such a thing. You dare call me
prostitute. I have Known no man except you and you say this.
Father: Destiny stop just come out straight. I reject to accept him as a son.
Destiny: It is your duty to guide him through the right path.
Father: Never! I can’t waste time on a wasted investment. Daughter let get out of
here.
Erica: Am going nowhere with you.
Father: Alright. Wasted destiny, I can never believe that fool is my son.
Destiny: You better start believing it Benjamin. (She follows him out talking) He is
your son and stop all this nonsense.

Cut to daughter
Erica: What is wrong with my father? (She speaks to herself) I am tired of this
family. Sometimes I feel like I am in a strange family.
Erik: He hates me. Nothing I do pleases him. (He raises his hand) No one values
me. He called me a failure. (Background voice sounds as he reacts) Exactly. I think
the key to a peace of mind is to kill myself. (He takes the knife) Let me kill myself
and have peace.
Erica: (Turns on hearing kill) Erik no (shocked) put the knife down.
Erik: Don’t tell me to put my knife down. You are loved by him, he hates me. I
can’t live with that. Pass this message to him. Tell him that I hate him. I cause the
day I came into his life. (Raises the knife and stabs himself)
Erica: Nooooooooooooo (she rushes) Erik no. Why? Daddy, mummy’s (Keeps
shouting).
Daddy: (Rushes in with the mom following from behind) Move away. Erik! Erik!
(he call) Erick say something. Am sorry, I didn’t mean to be hard on you.
Destiny. You see what you have caused. Please carry him lets head to the hospital
(They carry him out).
Daughter: (Panting) God please don’t let my brother die.
Destiny: he will not die.

Doctor: Very good. Go to word 3 and check on the patient brought in two days
ago. That lady’s case is complicated. I will soon come there.

Erik: Doctor how is my son?
Destiny: Is he going to be on?
Daughter: Will he survive it?
Doctor: You need to calm down. Emmmm Mr. Erick your son came in late. The

Doctor: Mr. and Mrs. Erik. You need to settle the bill so that your son’s body can
be taken to the mortuary. Am so sorry (he walks out)
Destiny: Are you happy now. You have taken away my joy. Nine months all a
waste. Why? Why cause me so much pain. You killed him and the blood will be on
your head. This is the end of this marriage. Get out of my life. I don’t ever want to
see you. (Holds the daughter as they leave).
Erica: (Turns to the father) I caused the day you became my father. I hate you.
(Tries to touch her) Don’t touch me. (She cries and leaves with the mom).
Erik: Life is a waste. It has left me broken. What have I done to myself? I should
have loved him the more. Ahhhhhhhh (He cries out)
Old man: That is exactly my story. A lot of parents despise their kids and cause
them. When you lose them, you will regret it. LOVE THEM EQUALLY so you don’t
become like me. (Everyone gradually comes in and they hold hands and bow).
