Speech To Sign Translator

The Speech to Sign Translator project aims to create a real-time system that translates spoken language into sign language to facilitate communication between hearing and hearing-impaired individuals. The application utilizes speech recognition and NLP to convert audio input into animated sign language gestures. Currently, the project is 68% complete, with voice recognition and sign animation fully developed, while UI/UX and real-time processing are still in progress.

Objective:

The primary objective of this project is to develop an intelligent system that translates
spoken language into sign language in real-time. This aims to bridge the communication gap
between hearing and hearing-impaired individuals, enabling inclusive interactions in
academic, professional, and social settings.

Project Description:

The Speech-to-Sign Translator is a real-time assistive web application that captures spoken
words through a microphone, processes the audio using speech recognition and NLP, and
maps the recognized words to corresponding sign language gestures. These gestures are
then visualized through animated sign language avatars.

 Real-time voice input and speech-to-text processing

 Dynamic display of sign language (alphabet/words) through animations

 User-friendly interface for both hearing and hearing-impaired users

 Future support for multilingual translation and avatar-based rendering

Overall Development Status:
