 Review of literature “Review of literature is an essential activity of scientific
research project; “Literature review involves system identification, location securing
and summary of written material that information on research problem” [Polit1978]

A review of the literature is thought of as a preliminary step in the data collection process
because it helps the researcher become familiar with earlier research findings onthe subject
being studied. A review of the literature is a collection of sources that lays the foundation for
additional research.

ROL:
1..Keten, Hamit [Link] (2019).Knowledge, Attitude, and Behaviour of Teachers Regarding
HPV (Human Papillomavirus) and Vaccination This cross-sectional study included teachers
from 30 schools of the Kahramanmaraş city between 01 March 2015 and 09 June 2015. The
teachers were informed prior to the study, and 804 teachers giving written consents were
enrolled. Nine questions (9 points) to ascertain the knowledge of teachers regarding HPV and
5 questions to detect the knowledge level about HPV vaccination were prepared from the
literature. Of the participants, 448 (55.7%) were men and 356 (44.3%) were women with a
mean age of 38.32 ± 8.36 (min = 23, max = 65) years. Of the teachers, 309 (38.4%) reported
having heard about HPV before while 207 (25.7%) stated hearing about the HPV vaccine.
The knowledge about HPV was mostly gained from the internet (n = 183, 22.8%). The mean
knowledge score of HPV was 1.29 ± 1.57 in men and 1.76 ± 1.70 in women. The mean
knowledge score about the HPV vaccination was 0.86 ± 1.06 in men and 1.14 ± 1.29 in
women. We found that teachers’ level of knowledge regarding HPV and its vaccination is
lacking.

2. R. Beutlin [Link] (2021).Knowledge and Attitude of Nursing Students

towards Human Papillomavirus Vaccination .A Descriptive study was done in order to
accomplish the objectives. The study was conducted at The Salvation Army Catherine Booth
College of Nursing, Nagercoil. The college had a total students’ strength of 196 and among
which 176 students participated in the study. Remaining twenty students were not willing
to participate in the study. The tool has three parts. Part I deals with demographic
variables which includes age, sex, religion, year of study, monthly income, type of
family, place of residence and vaccination status. Part II has 20 knowledge questionnaire
(MCQs) on HPV vaccination and knowledge level was interpreted as
adequate knowledge (14 to 20 score), moderate knowledge (8 to 14 score) and inadequate
knowledge (0 to 7 score). Part III has attitude scale which has 15 items among which 10
and 5 items are positive and negative statements respectively. The study revealed that
less than 50% had adequate knowledge and only 55% had positive attitude towards HPV
vaccination respectively. Only 2% were vaccinated against HPV.

3. Salma Al Alawi [Link](2023). Knowledge, attitudes and acceptance toward Human

papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination: Perspectives of Muslim women and men. This cross-
sectional quantitative study used convenience sampling to recruit male and female
participants, aged 18 years and above from all 11 governorates of Oman to complete a
validated self-administered questionnaire online in the Arabic language. : A total of 1403
participants, including 952 parents and 369 healthcare providers, completed the survey. The
questionnaire comprised five sections, with a total of 32 questions. The questionnaire,
including Arabic and English versions, was content validated and piloted. The results showed
a lack of knowledge regarding HPV infection and vaccines, including among healthcare
providers.

4. H. S. Priyadarshani [Link] (2023) The present study was undertaken to determine

knowledge, attitude and practices (KAP) regarding HPV infection, vaccination and CC
among paramedical students of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS), University of
Peradeniya. A purposive sample of 200 students following 5 different degree programmes at
FAHS including 128 females and 72 males were surveyed. A pre-tested questionnaire was
used to assess the KAP, and the analysis scale used for KAP ranged from ‘satisfactory’ and
‘fair’ to ‘inadequate’. . Only 12% of the participants reached a fair to satisfactory practice
score and no significant difference was noted among different categories in the practice score.
Overall, knowledge and practice scores regarding HPV infection, vaccination, CC and its
preventive measures among the respondents were low. However, the majority of study
participants had a positive attitude.

5. Keshni(2019) to Assess the Knowledge and Attitude Towards HPV Vaccination among
Students of Selected School at Ludhiana Punjab. A descriptive research design was used to
assess the attitude and knowledge of 60 students in selected school by sampling techniques
who were studying in the school of Ludhiana, Punjab. A self structured questionnaire tool
was used to assess the knowledge and attitude with method. Results: It shows that 3% of
students having good knowledge (5%) and 46% of students having average knowledge
(76.6%) and 11% of students having poor knowledge (18.3%). This study shows that 49% of
the students having unfavourable attitude (81.6%) and remaining 11%o the student having
favourable attitude (18.3%) regarding HPV vaccination. Hence, it is concluded that the
majority of students having average knowledge and majority of student having unfavourable
attitude towards HPV vaccination.

6. Marion War [Link](2022) To assess gaps in human papillomavirus (HPV) knowledge and
current attitudes toward HPV vaccination among active duty soldiers at Fort Bragg, NC, and
to evaluate the impact of the instruction intervention on knowledge and attitudes

[Link] vaccination . A six-question assessment was administered to soldiers

presenting for appointments through the Epidemiology and Disease Control (EDC) Clinic at
Fort Bragg in January 2020. Questions included five multiple choice knowledge assessments

.
and a Likert scale attitude question regarding HPV vaccination A total of 139 matched pre-

.
and post-education assessments were completed Additionally, for individuals reporting no
prior HPV vaccination, attitudes toward receiving it increased from 4 (interquartile range 3-5)
to 5 (4-5) following instructions (P < .001). Results among soldiers demonstrated a lack of
knowledge regarding HPV infection, its long-term effects, and preventive measures available
among this population of active duty members.
7. Hamit Sirri Keten [Link](2019). This study aims to determine the knowledge, attitude, and
behaviors of teachers regarding human papillomavirus (HPV) and its vaccination. This cross-
sectional study included teachers from 30 schools of the Kahramanmaraş city between 01
March 2015 and 09 June 2015. . The teachers were informed prior to the study, and 804
teachers giving written consents were enrolled. Nine questions (9 points) to ascertain the

men and 356 (44.3%) were women with a mean age of 38.32 ± 8.36 (min = 23, max = 65)
years. The knowledge scores of female teachers regarding HPV and its vaccination were
significantly higher compared with male teachers (p < 0.001, p = 0.001). We found that
teachers’ level of knowledge regarding HPV and its vaccination is lacking. Furthermore, we
observed deficiency and mistakes in teachers’ attitude and behaviors towards HPV and its
vaccine.
8. Aparna Narayana Gollu [Link].(2021). The current study aims to assess the awareness among
medical students about HPV infection as a causative factor for cervical cancer and their

students from 2nd and 3rd year of Vydehi Medical College, Bangalore,Karnataka, India
Questionnaire consisted of 16 questions of multiple choice type and results were analysed
using percentages and chi square test. P value <0.05 was considered significant. Knowledge
regarding HPV as a causative agent for cervical cancer was found in 67 (95.7%) of male
students and 79 (98.8%) of female students with no statistically significant difference. There
was good knowledge among medical students regarding cervical cancer and its prevention.
But knowledge regarding HPV vaccine was poor among both males and females. Willingness
to get vaccinated in male students was very less compared to female students.
[Link] sharma [Link](2020).Assessment of understanding about human papilloma virus
vaccination among undergraduate medical students in a developing country. This was a
descriptive ,questionnaire based cross-sectional study conducted among the undergraduate
medical students of AIIMS jodhpur. A total of 238 respondents participated in the study.
Overall 41% students have good knowledge about hpv infection and hpv vaccination while
44% students have average knowledge and 15% had poor knowledge. Self administered and
structured questionnaire and scoring scale were prepared to assess the knowledge and attitude
of students. The majority of them(80) knew that hpv is responsible for cervical cancer.
Medical students who are potential recipients of thr hpv vaccine themselves, can play a
unique role in promoting awareness about hpv vaccination in the future.
10. Hae Won [Link](2022) Knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions associated with HPV
vaccination among female Korean and Chinese university students. A cross sectional study
was conducted ,The participants were 273 Korean and 317 Chinese female university
students who had not been vaccinated for HPV, and data were collected using a self-reported
questionnaire about attitudes toward HPV vaccination, HPV knowledge, perceptions of HPV
infection, and intention to receive HPV vaccine. Results There were no significant
differences between the Korean and Chinese female university students in HPV knowledge,
attitudes, perceptions, and vaccination intention. It is important to improve attitudes and
knowledge about HPV and the HPV vaccine in order to enhance HPV vaccination both in
Korea and China. Perceived seriousness and negative emotions regarding HPV infection
should be used as a framework to develop subject-tailored interventions in China.
