Intensive consideration have been paid in the extremely simplified design to offer the most comfortable and minimized routine work to the operation. 1, SELECTOR by means of a rotary pulse encoder is pro vided for selecting the track number. It assures instant cueing operation since the pick-up ‘and display function simultaneously as SELECTOR is turned. ‘As soon as a track is assigned, the beginning of audio is strictly cued. 2. Subsequent depression of the PLAY button starts playback immediately. (an average 200 msec.) 3. Cartridge system is employed. Not only that CD's can be stored or used as they are kept in the cartridges, but also following advantages are offered. a) Easy loading/unloading and storage of CD's in the same manner as the current tape-cartridge system ‘offers smooth broadcasting operation. 'b) The shutter opens (closes) upon loading (unload- ing). The CD is protected from damage caused by scratches, dust or finger-prints. It assures quality, and stabilized reproduction over a long period of time. ©) When loaded, the cartridge remains exposed approximately 1/2 inch out of the loading slot so that a label showing the contents can be applied to the exposed edge. 4d} The CD-Cartridge is made of a transparent mate- rial. Titles on the disc can be easily confirmed from outside, EOM (End of Message) is sent out prior to the com- pletion of a selection (5 to 35 sec. adjustable). . The total time of a selected track and the remaining, time during play can be displayed. When the STDBY/CUE button is pressed during play, the pick-up returns to the place where the play button ‘was finally pressed, and the unit stand-by after cueing to audio. The cartridge tray will rise to its original position and the cartridge will be pushed out from the cartridge tray, at which point it can be removed. NOTES ON HANDLING THE OPTICAL PICK-UP BLOCK (MLP-10) The laser pick-up MLP-10 is assembled and precisely adjusted using a sophisticated manufacturing process in our plant. Do not disassemble or attempt to readjust it. Please keep the following instructions carefully in handling pick: up. 1. PROTECTION OF LASER DIODES Laser diodes are so sensitive to such pulsive electrical noises {5 static voltage or surge current that their reliability may be decreased or completely destroyed. Take intensive precautions against all kinds of static voltage problems as well asthe following examples © Don't touch the terminal of laser diode and ALPC P.C.B. by bare hand. ‘© Electrically ground workbenches, measuring instruments, igs, tools, ete. at the same potential as the ground line of the power supply. © Use wrist straps for grounding workers’ bodies as well as Using non-leakage soldering iron with grounding for tip, It should be especially noted when wearing a synthetic dress or the air is dry. © Do not attempt checking simply with circuit tester or ‘oscilloscope probes on the laser terminals, Do not apply voltage with poorly made voltage source fr with temporary contact pins or clips. 2. HANDLING OF ACTUATOR The actuator precisely controls the object lens. For maintaining this precision, each part is finished, asyembled and adjusted with the highest care. Do not attempt careless disassembly, especially do not take ‘apart the actuator assembly, {© The abject lens is supported by a precision spring, Be careful not to apply mechanical stresses such as by ‘excessive vibrations or dropping the unit. © Pick up should be supported at point “A’ and “B" (Shown in Figure below) Especially don't touch and stress the actuator, ALP P.C.B., photo detector and LD:plate. © Inside the actuator cap covering around the object lens, there is a strong permanent magnet. Handle with cate so that any foreign object (especially metals) will not get inside, or the unit will not be placed ‘near magnetic substances. 3. CLEANING OF LENS If the object lens is stained or tarnished, the specified characteristics including the emitting power may be deteriorated, ‘© Stain on the lens should be cleaned with raveling-free cotton swabs or lens cleaning paper for cameras moistened with a mixture of aleohol/ether (3/7) or cleaning solution for cameras Wipe the lens gently so that the supporting spring will not be deformed, © Do not handle oF store the lens in places subject to oil stain or dew formation, but handle or store it in dust: {ree places with little change of temperature. 4, CAUTIONS It is necessary for you to take your eyes 30cm more off from the objective lens, when laser diode is lighting e [Link].
