The Model DN-950F CD CART PLAYER is especially designed in conformance to actual broadcasting and production acti:
Vities. Intensive consideration have been paid in the extremely simplified design to offer the most comfortable and
minimized routine work to the operation.
1, SELECTOR by means of a rotary pulse encoder is pro
vided for selecting the track number.
It assures instant cueing operation since the pick-up
‘and display function simultaneously as SELECTOR is
turned.
‘As soon as a track is assigned, the beginning of audio
is strictly cued.
2. Subsequent depression of the PLAY button starts
playback immediately. (an average 200 msec.)
3. Cartridge system is employed. Not only that CD's can
be stored or used as they are kept in the cartridges,
but also following advantages are offered.
a) Easy loading/unloading and storage of CD's in the
same manner as the current tape-cartridge system
‘offers smooth broadcasting operation.
'b) The shutter opens (closes) upon loading (unload-
ing). The CD is protected from damage caused by
scratches, dust or finger-prints. It assures quality,
and stabilized reproduction over a long period of
time.
©) When loaded, the cartridge remains exposed
approximately 1/2 inch out of the loading slot so
that a label showing the contents can be applied to
the exposed edge.
4d} The CD-Cartridge is made of a transparent mate-
rial. Titles on the disc can be easily confirmed from
outside,
EOM (End of Message) is sent out prior to the com-
pletion of a selection (5 to 35 sec. adjustable).
. The total time of a selected track and the remaining,
time during play can be displayed.
When the STDBY/CUE button is pressed during play,
the pick-up returns to the place where the play button
‘was finally pressed, and the unit stand-by after cueing
to audio. Thus, ‘preview of the program is easily
performed,
Depression of the PLAY/PAUSE button changes the
“PLAY" or “PAUSE” modes alternately.
A STEREO/MONO selector switch is provided so that
Land R channels are mixed when required.SPECIFICATIONS.

LOADING AND UNLOADING
THE CARTRIDGE
To play a compact dite on this player, the dise must be
housed in the exclusive cartridge and the cartridge must be
loaded into the player. The feature of the ACD-5B cartridge
is that it can be used to house and store the dise, and loaded
as uch into the player.
Procedure
(1) Housing and Removing Dise
1. To house the disc in the cartridge, open the cover
in the direction of the arrow, then insert the disc
with the labelled side (printed side) facing
upward,
2. To remove the disc from the cartridge, hold it
with one finger in the hole in the center of the
disc and another along the outside of the disc.
Note: Be careful not to touch the recorded sur-
face of the disc, as fingerprints could
cause skips.

NOTES ON HANDLING THE
OPTICAL PICK-UP BLOCK (MLP-10)
The laser pick-up MLP-10 is assembled and precisely
adjusted using a sophisticated manufacturing process in our
plant. Do not disassemble or attempt to readjust it. Please
keep the following instructions carefully in handling pick:
up.
1. PROTECTION OF LASER DIODES
Laser diodes are so sensitive to such pulsive electrical noises
{5 static voltage or surge current that their reliability may
be decreased or completely destroyed.
Take intensive precautions against all kinds of static voltage
problems as well asthe following examples
© Don't touch the terminal of laser diode and ALPC P.C.B.
by bare hand.
‘© Electrically ground workbenches, measuring instruments,
igs, tools, ete. at the same potential as the ground line
of the power supply.
© Use wrist straps for grounding workers’ bodies as well as
Using non-leakage soldering iron with grounding for tip,
It should be especially noted when wearing a synthetic
dress or the air is dry.
© Do not attempt checking simply with circuit tester or
‘oscilloscope probes on the laser terminals,
Do not apply voltage with poorly made voltage source
fr with temporary contact pins or clips.
2. HANDLING OF ACTUATOR
The actuator precisely controls the object lens.
For maintaining this precision, each part is finished,
asyembled and adjusted with the highest care.
Do not attempt careless disassembly, especially do not take
‘apart the actuator assembly,
{© The abject lens is supported by a precision spring,
Be careful not to apply mechanical stresses such as by
‘excessive vibrations or dropping the unit.
© Pick up should be supported at point “A’ and “B"
(Shown in Figure below)
Especially don't touch and stress the actuator, ALP
P.C.B., photo detector and LD:plate.
© Inside the actuator cap covering around the object
lens, there is a strong permanent magnet.
Handle with cate so that any foreign object (especially
metals) will not get inside, or the unit will not be placed

1. Turn the power switch (SW!) of the Jig on so that
“SLIDE MOTORS (1), (2)" rotate
2, Press "SW3” on the Jig, DC current of the "SLIDE
MOTOR (2)" is indicated on the OC ampere meter.
Adjust the "ADJ. SCREW" (refer to Fig, 31) so that the
DC ampere meter indicates 25 to 40 mA. Lock the
"ADJ. SCREW" with “LOCK NUT” after the adjust
Press "SWS", The meter indicates DC current of
“SLIDE MOTOR (1)".
‘Adjust another “ADJ, SCREW" so that indication of the
DC ampere meter indicates 35 to 40 mA and lock it in
the same manner as item 3 above.
‘Turn the power switch of the Jig off after completion of
‘adjustments.
mA, defective motor is probable cause,
Install “HELICAL GEAR” and “OPTICAL PICK-UP” to
the Slide Motor Assembly, and adjust clearances between
“HELICAL GEARs” and "WORM GEAR as indicated
page 34.
6. Turn the power switch (SW1) of the Jig on, — The
ower is applied to the SLIDE MOTORS (1) and (2), 30
‘that motors rotate,
7. Press "SW2" and "SWS" simultaneously. — The pick-up,
advances inner direction of the dise, and DC current of
the SLIDE MOTOR (2) is indicated on the ampere
meter,
8, Press “SW4" and “SWS” same time, ~ The pickup
moves toward the outer of disc, and DC current for the
SLIDE MOTOR (1) is indicated on the DC ampere
meter
9, Perform above procedures items 2. and 3. and make sure
that the each value of DC current during the pick-up
movements (inner and outer directions) is not exceeding
60 mA, and the difference of the current between both
directions is less than 15 mA.
Note: In case the DC current varies over the above
values, remove the “HELICAL GEAR", and
repeat the adjustment procedures from the
beginning,
36Worm Gear and Helical Gear Position Adjustments
1, Measure pitches between two axes of worm gears,
If the clearances do not agree with following figures,

1) As shown in the above right, release "Gear-base Ass'y
fining sores" (3 pos. 2.6 x 8).
2) Move the Gear-base Ass'y right or left side so that the
4g fits in the proper position smoothly.
3) Fasten scrows after the Jig fits into the proper
position
Note: In case, if you feel difficulty to fit the Jig into
‘the position, make sure the above procedure item
#1 (pitches between worm gears) again, and
check if an adequate clearance (34,4 mm) is

Fig, 35,3. To confirm the parallel of “Slide Shafts" and "Worm
Gear Axes", slide the pickup forward and backward as
indicated below,
IF it does not move smoothly, i.e, if the Jig touches
with worm gear and it blocks smooth movement;
1) Release “Slide Motor Ass'y fixing screws" (3 pes.)
2) Move the assembly left or right to find proper loce
tion where the pick-up moves forward and backward
smoothly,
3} Fasten three screws and fix the assembly at the point
‘where the pick-up moves smoother.
Note: In some rare cases the motor plate may be
deformed, In such case, it will be necessary to
replace the motor plate in order to obtain
sufficient movement of the pick-up,
4, Remove the Jig, and install the “HELICAL GEAR”.
