Disclaimer: This resource has been made for the purpose of teaching English language learners. We know that students can be learning English in many different places, in many different ways and at any age, so we try to keep these resources as general as possible.
There are many acronyms associated with English language teaching. These include (but are not limited to) ELT, TEFL, EFL, ELL, EAL and ESOL. While the term ESL may not fully represent the linguistic backgrounds of all students, it is the most widely recognised term for English language teaching globally.
Therefore, we use the term ‘ESL’ in the names of our resources to make them easy to find but they are suitable for any student learning to speak English.

Teacher Instructions

Tell your students the following:

You will need the following colours: red, blue, yellow, purple, green, pink, orange, grey and your favourite colour.

Listen and colour:

1. How many chairs are there? I see seven. Colour the teacher’s
chair blue and the student’s chairs orange.

2. Do you see the teacher’s desk? Colour it brown.

3. How many tables are there? I see two. Colour them green.

4. How many balloons are there? I see twelve. Colour six balloons
purple and six balloons yellow.

5. Do you see the box of colouring pencils on the teacher’s desk?


Colour the box red. Colour the pencils different colours.

6. Colour the notebook on the teacher’s desk your favourite colour.

7. Colour the star on the wall pink.

8. Do you see the window? Colour it grey.
