BENCH YLLIN COMPETITION GUIDELINES
1. The Bench Yelling Contest is open only to ABM students.
2. Each section is required to have their entire class participate in the
performance.
3. Each section will be given a minimum of 2 minutes and a maximum of 3
minutes to perform their yell.
4. The yell is a bench type and must be performed in the team’s designated area.
5. Yells must be appropriate, incorporating school spirit, unity, and creativity.
6. The use of props is allowed but must be minimal and easy to carry/clean up.
Spending excessive money on elaborate props is discouraged.
7. Offensive language, gestures, or themes are strictly prohibited. All
performances must promote positivity and inclusivity.
8. Outside trainers are not allowed. The yell must be developed by the students
themselves.
9. The final performance will be judged during Team Building Day (December 20,
2024).
10. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in a five-point deduction from the
final score.
11. Judging will be based on the official criteria provided: Clarity and Projection,
Energy and Spirit, Synchronization, and Creativity and Impact.
12. Awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
13. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.
CRITERIA FOR JUDGING (BENCH YELLING)
CLARITY AND PROJECTION (ability to deliver the yells loudly, clearly,
and audibly) – 30%
ENERGY AND SPIRIT (overall enthusiasm, intensity, and passion) –
30%
SYNCHRONIZATION (coordination and timing of yell and movements)
– 20%
CREATIVITY AND IMPACT (originality, creativity in the chants and
movements) – 20%
