Using "a","A", and "`s" instead of "x" "X" and "W"
To write አአ፣አኡ፣አኢ፣ኣኣ or any combinations of አ and its derivatives, the first and subsequent
አ need to be preceded by "`". (Doesn't work unless the Keyboard layout/IME is set to "US" or

To write ዐዐ፣ዐዑ፣ዐዒ፣ዐዔ or any combination of ዐ and its derivatives, the first and subsequent ዐ
need to be preceded by "`". (Doesn't work unless the Keyboard layout/IME is set to "US" or
"Geez Unicode")
To write አዐ፣ዓኣ፣ዐኡ፣አዔ or any combination of አ and the derivatives of ዐ or vice versa, all the
letters after the first አ or ዐ need to be preceded by "`". (Doesn't work unless the Keyboard
layout/IME is set to "US" or "Geez Unicode")
To write ሠሡ፣ሠሢ፣ሠሣ፣ሠሤ or any combination of ሠ and its derivatives, the first and subsequent ሠ
need to be preceded by "`". (Doesn't work unless the Keyboard layout/IME is set to "US" or
"Geez Unicode")
The letter "a" plays two roles. When it is preceded by any ግእዝ, it converts the ግእዝ into ራብእ. It
is also used on its own to represent አ.
These roles may get mixed up when writing some words and lead to an error. For example, when
writing the word በአል the letter "a" used after "b" converts በ to ባ instead of the intended አ. To
solve this problem, the letter "b" needs to be followed by " `a " to get ኣ. Hence, to write በአል
you use "b`ale" = በኣል instead of "bale" = ባል.
Similarly, "A" plays two roles. When it is preceded by some ግእዝ, it converts the ግእዝ into
letters such as ቧ,ጧ,ቷ,ሷ,ሟ etc. It is also used on its own to represent ዓ. These roles can also get
mixed up when writing some words and lead to an error. For example, when writing the word
በዓል the letter "A" used after " b" converts በ to ቧ instead of the intended ዓ. To solve this
problem, the letter "b" needs to be followed by "`A" to get ዓ. Hence, to write በዓል you use
"b`Aale" = በዓል instead of "bAle" = ቧል. Use this technique for related mix-ups that may be
encountered.
These problems are not encountered when "x" and "X" are used to represent አ and ዐ
respectively.

language setting of your keyboard by right clicking on the Geez icon (at any status) and selecting
(left clicking) keyman configuration and selecting the Languages tab.
