*porcentage is out of 100
Example:
In this class there are 16 students 12 are girls
1) calculate the percentage of girls
12/16 x 100=75%
2)calculate the percentage of boys:
4/16 x 100=25%
(75% - 100%)
Example
Calculate the following
a) 20% of $120 ( or 20/100 x 120)
20 x 120/100=$24
b)110% of $600
110 x 600/100=$660
Examples the price of a tv is $300 in sale the price is increased by 5%
Work out the price of the tv in the sale

300 x 5/100=15
300+15=315
The value of the tv price rise from $300 to $375 calculate the percentage
(375-300)/300 x 100=75
75/300 x 100=25%
