that [were] with him, faint, yet pursuing [them].
Then Menahem smote
Tiphsah, and all that [were] therein, and the coasts thereof from Tirzah:
because they opened not [to him], therefore he smote [it; and] all the
women therein that were with child he ripped up. And I said, I see a
seething pot; and the face thereof [is] toward the north. And he that
blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, [and]
all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as
he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name [of the LORD],
shall be put to death. And Rabshakeh said unto them, Speak ye now to
Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence
[is] this wherein thou trustest? And David built there an altar unto the
LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Now therefore, my
son, obey my voice according to that which I command thee. Or his head
with fish spears? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he abideth at
Jerusalem: for he said, To day shall the house of Israel restore me the
kingdom of my father. And the LORD said unto me, Fear him not: for I will
deliver him, and all his people, and his land, into thy hand; and thou
shalt do unto him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which
dwelt at Heshbon. And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether
they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded
their fathers by the hand of Moses. And the priest shall take the lamb of
the trespass offering, and the log of oil, and the priest shall wave them
[for] a wave offering before the LORD: And he shall kill the lamb of the
trespass offering, and the priest shall take [some] of the blood of the
trespass offering, and put [it] upon the tip of the right ear of him that
is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the
great toe of his right foot: And the priest shall pour of the oil into
the palm of his own left hand: And the priest shall sprinkle with his
right finger [some] of the oil that [is] in his left hand seven times
before the LORD: And the priest shall put of the oil that [is] in his
hand upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and
upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right
foot, upon the place of the blood of the trespass offering: And the rest
of the oil that [is] in the priest’s hand he shall put upon the head of
him that is to be cleansed, to make an atonement for him before the LORD.
The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, when king Zedekiah sent
unto him Pashur the son of Melchiah, and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah
the priest, saying, Inquire, I pray thee, of the LORD for us; for
Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon maketh war against us; if so be that the
LORD will deal with us according to all his wondrous works, that he may
go up from us. Thus they made a covenant at Beersheba: then Abimelech
rose up, and Phichol the chief captain of his host, and they returned
into the land of the Philistines. And [there is] none that calleth upon
thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast
hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good
pleasure. So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon,
[son] of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? And for the gate of the
court [shall be] an hanging of twenty cubits, [of] blue, and purple, and
scarlet, and fine twined linen, wrought with needlework: [and] their
pillars [shall be] four, and their sockets four. Moreover the LORD will
also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to
morrow [shalt] thou and thy sons [be] with me: the LORD also shall
deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines. And Moses
numbered, as the LORD commanded him, all the firstborn among the children
of Israel. Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with
the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof. To the chief
Musician, [even] to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. And the sons of Eliphaz
were Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz. Salute Urbane, our helper
in Christ, and Stachys my beloved. For the statutes of Omri are kept, and
all the works of the house of Ahab, and ye walk in their counsels; that I
should make thee a desolation, and the inhabitants thereof an hissing:
therefore ye shall bear the reproach of my people. Let no man deceive
himself. Sing unto the LORD with the harp; with the harp, and the voice
of a psalm. And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of
land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the
wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kirharaseth left
they the stones thereof; howbeit the slingers went about [it], and smote
it. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye
believe on him whom he hath sent. And the king rose up to meet her, and
bowed himself unto her, and sat down on his throne, and caused a seat to
be set for the king’s mother; and she sat on his right hand. Then the
twelve called the multitude of the disciples [unto them], and said, It is
not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Those
that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not
weep. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Even very
dark, and no brightness in it? If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he
hath bent his bow, and made it ready. Yea, the sparrow hath found an
house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young,
[even] thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. Having
therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of
Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through
the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And [having] an high priest over the
house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of
faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our
bodies washed with pure water. And when they had told David, saying,
Uriah went not down unto his house, David said unto Uriah, Camest thou
not from [thy] journey? But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the
midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not
have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss. And it
came to pass the same night, that the word of God came to Nathan, saying,
Go and tell David my servant, Thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not build
me an house to dwell in: For I have not dwelt in an house since the day
that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent,
and from [one] tabernacle [to another]. And Jesus went out, and departed
from the temple: and his disciples came to [him] for to shew him the
buildings of the temple. If the LORD [be] God, follow him: but if Baal,
[then] follow him. Whom have I in heaven [but thee]? Except the LORD of
hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as
Sodom, [and] we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Great [are] thy
tender mercies, O LORD: quicken me according to thy judgments. For thou
hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast
thou subdued under me. For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee
a terror to thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the
sword of their enemies, and thine eyes shall behold [it]: and I will give
all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall slay them with the sword. And if the LORD
thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give
thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers; If thou
shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this
day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt
thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three: That innocent
blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for]
an inheritance, and [so] blood be upon thee. Therefore I thought it
necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and
make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the
same might be ready, as [a matter of] bounty, and not as [of]
covetousness. And he that eateth of the carcase of it shall wash his
clothes, and be unclean until the even: he also that beareth the carcase
of it shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even. Evil men
understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all
[things]. And he took thereof in his hands, and went on eating, and came
to his father and mother, and he gave them, and they did eat: but he told
not them that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the lion. For
I will surely deliver thee, and thou shalt not fall by the sword, but thy
life shall be for a prey unto thee: because thou hast put thy trust in
me, saith the LORD. Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them:
they sank as lead in the mighty waters. And the number throughout the
genealogy of them that were apt to the war [and] to battle [was] twenty
and six thousand men. There is a sore evil [which] I have seen under the
sun, [namely], riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt. Neither
shall there be [any] work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or
rush, may do. And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth
God love his brother also. So David would not remove the ark of the LORD
unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the
house of Obededom the Gittite. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he
inclined unto me, and heard my cry. And he repaired the altar of the
LORD, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and
commanded Judah to serve the LORD God of Israel. And to every beast of
the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth
upon the earth, wherein [there is] life, [I have given] every green herb
for meat: and it was so. And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount
Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which [is]
Hebron, in the mountain of Judah. And he brought also the brasen altar,
which [was] before the LORD, from the forefront of the house, from
between the altar and the house of the LORD, and put it on the north side
of the altar. [He is] a merchant, the balances of deceit [are] in his
hand: he loveth to oppress. And when it was day, they knew not the land:
but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they
were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship. And the captains
over the hundreds did according to all [things] that Jehoiada the priest
commanded: and they took every man his men that were to come in on the
sabbath, with them that should go out on the sabbath, and came to
Jehoiada the priest. He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people
of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness [where there is]
no way. Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly. Whether
[it be done] against a nation, or against a man only: That the hypocrite
reign not, lest the people be ensnared. Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD!
behold, the prophets say unto them, Ye shall not see the sword, neither
shall ye have famine; but I will give you assured peace in this place.
The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but destruction [shall
be] to the workers of iniquity. Before Zerubbabel [thou shalt become] a
plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone [thereof with] shoutings,
[crying], Grace, grace unto it. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep
them in the midst of thine heart. God forbid. 1Give therefore thy servant
an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between
good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? And
she said, Yea, for so much. But Benjamin, Joseph’s brother, Jacob sent
not with his brethren; for he said, Lest peradventure mischief befall
him. Therefore [it is] of faith, that [it might be] by grace; to the end
the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of
the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the
father of us all, (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many
nations,) before him whom he believed, [even] God, who quickeneth the
dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. And he
was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who smote him
with a great slaughter. A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell
what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him? And it
shall be, when the LORD thy God shall have brought thee into the land
which he sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to
give thee great and goodly cities, which thou buildedst not, And houses
full of all good [things], which thou filledst not, and wells digged,
which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst
not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full; [Then] beware lest thou
forget the LORD, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from
the house of bondage. And these [are the countries] which the children of
Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and
Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the
children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them. Wherefore thou
art great, O LORD God: for [there is] none like thee, neither [is there
any] God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.
Kness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let
the blackness of the day terrify it. Let my heart be sound in thy
statutes; that I be not ashamed. And he shall consecrate unto the LORD
the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for
a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because
his separation was defiled. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and
his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? And [the
spirit] cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one
dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. By faith the harlot Rahab
perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies
with peace. For who [is] God, save the LORD? Or whom have I defrauded?
The precious sons of Zion, comparable to fine gold, how are they esteemed
as earthen pitchers, the work of the hands of the potter! Even the sea
monsters draw out the breast, they give suck to their young ones: the
daughter of my people [is become] cruel, like the ostriches in the
wilderness. I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise
perish. And Abraham said, I will swear. Then said I, Woe [is] me! for I
am undone; because I [am] a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst
of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD
of hosts. Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O
LORD God of truth. For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her
mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. Surely the
righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy
presence. For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I
command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his
ways, and to cleave unto him; Then will the LORD drive out all these
nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and
mightier than yourselves. For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name:
I have not sent them, saith the LORD. Smite a scorner, and the simple
will beware: and reprove one that hath understanding, [and] he will
understand knowledge. And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what
sawest thou? Then all the children of Israel, and all the people, went
up, and came unto the house of God, and wept, and sat there before the
LORD, and fasted that day until even, and offered burnt offerings and
peace offerings before the LORD. Do they provoke me to anger? Whoso
killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of
witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person [to cause
him] to die. Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the
wicked be no more. But Samson’s wife was [given] to his companion, whom
he had used as his friend. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead:
and calling [unto him] the centurion, he asked him whether he had been
any while dead. But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows
[are] beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away. I am
that bread of life. 1And Adonijah feared because of Solomon, and arose,
and went, and caught hold on the horns of the altar. And David said unto
Abiathar, I knew [it] that day, when Doeg the Edomite [was] there, that
he would surely tell Saul: I have occasioned [the death] of all the
persons of thy father’s house. But when his brethren were gone up, then
went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. And
he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were
sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered. And Menahem
exacted the money of Israel, [even] of all the mighty men of wealth, of
each man fifty shekels of silver, to give to the king of Assyria. Add
thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also
they saw God, and did eat and drink. Selah. Therefore I will not refrain
my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in
the bitterness of my soul. Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and
hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. O LORD, for thy servant’s sake,
and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all this greatness, in
making known all [these] great things. And in them is fulfilled the
prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not
understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this
people’s heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing,
and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with
[their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with
[their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. For all
this his anger is not turned away, but his hand [is] stretched out still.
And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I [be] a man of
God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.
Behold, I [am] against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover
thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and
the kingdoms thy shame. Ephraim shall be desolate in the day of rebuke:
among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which shall surely be.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox,
nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s. We have
transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned. Obey, I beseech
thee, the voice of the LORD, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well
unto thee, and thy soul shall live. And he began to speak unto them by
parables. And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I
will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any
nation: and all the people among which thou [art] shall see the work of
the LORD: for it [is] a terrible thing that I will do with thee. Let his
children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. (For they had seen before
with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul
had brought into the temple.) And all the city was moved, and the people
ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and
forthwith the doors were shut. And they put his armour in the house of
their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon. And Moses
called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel the uncle of Aaron, and
said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary
out of the camp. These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and
spake of him. And the children of Dan said unto him, Let not thy voice be
heard among us, lest angry fellows run upon thee, and thou lose thy life,
with the lives of thy household. For every head [shall be] bald, and
every beard clipped: upon all the hands [shall be] cuttings, and upon the
loins sackcloth. Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD
hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device [is]
against Babylon, to destroy it; because it [is] the vengeance of the
LORD, the vengeance of his temple. And [David] mourned for his son every
day. Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused
the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah
[thereto]. And I will restore it you. I will also stretch out mine hand
upon Judah, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will cut off
the remnant of Baal from this place, [and] the name of the Chemarims with
the priests; And them that worship the host of heaven upon the housetops;
and them that worship [and] that swear by the LORD, and that swear by
Malcham; And them that are turned back from the LORD; and [those] that
have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for him. They bow themselves, they
bring forth their young ones, they cast out their sorrows. Then answered
the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan,
and hast a devil? Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have
ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. And Jehu
went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal, and said
unto the worshippers of Baal, Search, and look that there be here with
you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.
Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee,
and get thee down to the floor: [but] make not thyself known unto the
man, until he shall have done eating and drinking. And the man did as
Joseph bade; and the man brought the men into Joseph’s house. I beseech
thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds: Which in time
past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me: Whom
I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have
ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel: But without thy mind would
I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but
willingly. And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that
oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye
shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from
your enemies. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is
revealed. And unto him that smiteth thee on the [one] cheek offer also
the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not [to take thy]
coat also. And moreover in time past, even when Saul was king, thou
[wast] he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God
said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler
over my people Israel. But my faithfulness and my mercy [shall be] with
him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. Now advise, and see what
answer I shall return to him that sent me. And if ye lend [to them] of
whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? And [Benhadad] said unto
him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore;
and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in
Samaria. Then Nebuchadnezzar in [his] rage and fury commanded to bring
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Shall it declare thy truth? And the
children of Benjamin went out against the people, [and] were drawn away
from the city; and they began to smite of the people, [and] kill, as at
other times, in the highways, of which one goeth up to the house of God,
and the other to Gibeah in the field, about thirty men of Israel. Who art
thou that judgest another man’s servant? And they that heard [it] said,
Who then can be saved? And he was sad at that saying, and went away
grieved: for he had great possessions. 1And it came to pass at the end of
twenty years, when Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the
LORD, and the king’s house, 1([Now] Hiram the king of Tyre had
furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold,
according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty
cities in the land of Galilee. This [is] a lamentation, and shall be for
a lamentation. I make a decree, That in every dominion of my kingdom men
tremble and fear before the God of Daniel: for he [is] the living God,
and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be
destroyed, and his dominion [shall be even] unto the end. They shall not
take a wife [that is] a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a
woman put away from her husband: for he [is] holy unto his God. For by
one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. When
Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came
with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where
have ye laid him? And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard [of
it]; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a
window. So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the
breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This [is]
the most holy [place]. But as the days of Noe [were], so shall also the
coming of the Son of man be. He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten
thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto
this day. Or doth the Almighty pervert justice? And it came to pass,
after the year was expired, at the time when kings go forth [to battle],
that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they
destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. If ye be willing
and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and
rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD
hath spoken [it]. He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that
the king slept with his fathers. And Terah lived seventy years, and begat
Abram, Nahor, and Haran. Ye [are] even my witnesses. And the king said,
Let him come in. And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, [There is]
yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the
LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but
evil. This same Hezekiah also stopped the upper watercourse of Gihon, and
brought it straight down to the west side of the city of David. And she
said to her father, Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up
before thee; for the custom of women [is] upon me. And Manasseh his son
reigned in his stead. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. Where
[are] the gods of Sepharvaim? Then the steward said within himself, What
shall I do? When ye blow an alarm the second time, then the camps that
lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm
for their journeys. Or how can I endure to see the destruction of my
kindred? The Lord at thy right hand shall strike through kings in the day
of his wrath. And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my
vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up;
[and] break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down: And I
will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall
come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain
no rain upon it. And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. We looked for
peace, and [there is] no good; and for the time of healing, and behold
trouble! We acknowledge, O LORD, our wickedness, [and] the iniquity of
our fathers: for we have sinned against thee. Therefore God dealt well
with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty. So
David prepared abundantly before his death. Why [is] it [that] thou hast
sent me? So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden
of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep
the way of the tree of life. And Mikloth begat Shimeah. And [so] it was,
that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel
slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand footmen in one day. And Samuel
said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that [there
is] none like him among all the people? Now Eli was very old, and heard
all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women
that assembled [at] the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. But
with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof,
and darkness shall pursue his enemies. Ye shall do my judgments, and keep
mine ordinances, to walk therein: I [am] the LORD your God. Praise ye the
LORD. So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by
the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that
were able to go forth to war in Israel; Even all they that were numbered
were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.
And when David came to Ziklag, he sent of the spoil unto the elders of
Judah, [even] to his friends, saying, Behold a present for you of the
spoil of the enemies of the LORD; To [them] which [were] in Bethel, and
to [them] which [were] in south Ramoth, and to [them] which [were] in
Jattir, And to [them] which [were] in Aroer, and to [them] which [were]
in Siphmoth, and to [them] which [were] in Eshtemoa, And to [them] which
[were] in Rachal, and to [them] which [were] in the cities of the
Jerahmeelites, and to [them] which [were] in the cities of the Kenites,
And to [them] which [were] in Hormah, and to [them] which [were] in
Chorashan, and to [them] which [were] in Athach, And to [them] which
[were] in Hebron, and to all the places where David himself and his men
