The ST800 Controller Program User Manual provides instructions for operating the ST800 controller, including setting communication ports, saving and restoring settings, and managing pulse lengths and PRF settings. Users must manually perform certain tasks such as auto-tuning and sector adjustments, as the program does not automate these processes. The manual also details safety mechanisms, command options, and methods for monitoring and debugging communication with the ST800.

ST800 CONTROLLER PROGRAM USER MANUAL

0.

The ST800 controller program is a simply program that generates all the messages managed by the
ST800 board. Note that auto tuning procedure and blanking sector adjustment are not performed
automatically by the program and must be operated manually by the user.

1.

To select the communication port select SETUP/COMM PORT. A log message appears in the main
window after opened the serial com.

2.

All the settings can be saved to a “conf.dat” file by means of the SETUP/SAVE DEFAULT menu.

3.
All the settings are restored at start up or manually with command SETUP/RESTORE DEFAULT.
After restore the settings are NOT automatically sent to ST800 but the user must perform the
CONTROL/SET DEFAULT command.

4.
To put the transceiver in standby or radiation use CONTROL/STATE submenu.

5.
To select one of 5 pulse lengths use CONTROL/PULSE SELECTION submenu. Be aware about
selection of longer pulses with high PRF setting: in this case the modulator can go in protection; it
is safe procedure select first PRF setting and then PULSE setting.

6.
To select one of the PRF setting select CONTROL/PRF. Be aware that with this command only a
code is selected inside the ST800; before to issue a radiation command or a PRF selection
command, they must be set all the PRF periods inside the ST800 registers with the
CONTROL/PRF/SETTING dialog (see below).

7.
To set internally the ST800 the PRF setting use CONTROL/PRF/SETTING dialog. The shown
values are the default ones; the user must issue APPLY to effectively send the settings to the ST800
. Higher values cannot be set depending on the selected pulse.

8.
To introduce blanking sector limits use CONTROL/BLANKING/SETTING dialog. Limits are
specified in degrees. The program doesn't adjust the sector limits, so the user must carefully set the
limits and the sector sequence for example to manage a 0 crossing sector, as explained in the
protocol document.
Enable sectors before with the CONTROL/BLANKING/ENABLE submenu.

To stop radiation without changing any other setting (standby/radiate, rotation, blanking sectors)
can be used the CONTROL/BLANKING/SILENCE submenu.

11.
To enable/disable the internal staggering function use CONTROL/STAGGER submenu.

12.

To select auto tune facility, use CONTROL/TUNING/TYPE submenu. Consider that ST800
controller program doesn't perform the sequence for manage the auto tuning shown in the protocol
document, so the user must perform the sequence manually.

13.

To change manually the tuning values, use CONTROL/TUNING/MANUAL VALUE dialog.

Before to initiate auto tuning mode, proper values must be set with this dialog.

16.
The ST800 has an embedded signal generator to simulate video, ACP and ARP signals. Use this
command to enable simulation. Also command radiation with the relevant submenu to generate
Trigger signal.

17.
To select a different encoder type use CONTROL/ACP/ENCODER TYPE submenu.

18.
To perform ARP alignment, use the CONTROL/ROTATION/NORTH ALIGN dialog. ARP is
generated delayed following this setting.

20.
To select one of 4 different rotation speeds, use the CONTROL/ROTATION/SPEED submenu.

21.
The ST800 has an internal safety mechanism in such a way in case of motor stopped radiation is
inhibited. To bypass this control use CONTROL/BITE/ACP SAFETY submenu.

22.
The ST800 has an internal safety mechanism in such a way in case of failure in the serial
communication for at least 10 seconds with the host controller radiation is inhibited. To bypass this
control use CONTROL/BITE/SER SAFETY submenu.

23.
To enable the internal (optional) BITE board use the CONTROL/BITE/BOARD submenu.
