Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) is an autonomous academic national institution under
Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India dedicated to research in Astronomy,
Astrophysics and Allied Sciences & Technology. The Institute has its main campus in
Koramangala, Bengaluru and CREST Campus at Hosakote, Bengaluru. It operates field
stations at Kavalur & Kodaikanal in Tamil Nadu, Gauribidanur in Karnataka, and Leh/Hanle
in Union Territory of Ladakh.
Online applications are invited from eligible, young, bright and highly motivated individuals
for the following post to work at Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru.

05. Essential Education 1). Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum
Qualifications of 60% aggregate marks from the recognized
University/Institution.
OR
Two years (02) NCTVT certificate course on ITI in
Machinist/Turner trade with a minimum of 60% aggregate
marks from the recognized Institution.
06. Essential Experience 1). For Diploma candidates should have a minimum of
two (02) years of experience in manufacturing of precision
components using CNC.
OR
For ITI candidates should have a minimum of three (03)
years of experience in manufacturing of precision
components using CNC.

2). Candidates possessing a one-year Apprenticeship
Certificate in CNC Lathe Operations will be granted a
relaxation of one year in the essential experience
requirement specified in the advertisement.
3). The candidate should have proficiency in writing and
generating manual programs using M-Codes & G-Codes
for CNC turning operations using fanuc controller.
07. Desirable 1).The candidate should have completed a certificate
course on CNC Lathe operations.
2). Familiarity with CAM software such as Mastercam.
3). Proficiency in operating conventional machines,
including lathe and milling.
4). Strong ability to interpret and work with Engineering
drawings.
5). Operational knowledge of mechanical engineering
CAD software such as AutoCAD (2D/3D modeling).
08. Place of posting IIA, Bengaluru.
Job Description:
1. Prepare, program and operate CNC lathe machines to manufacture precision
components as per design drawings.
2. Utilize and maintain precision measuring instruments, including vernier callipers,
micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges and other relevant tools to verify
dimensional accuracy and maintain tolerances.
Terms &Conditions:
1. The appointment is purely temporary on contract basis and does not confer any
privilege or benefit applicable to regular employment. No claim whatsoever for
regular employment in the Institute shall be entertained.
2. The tenure of appointment is initially for a period of one (01) year and extendable
annually for four years (Total five years) subject to requirement of the Project/
Institute and satisfactory performance of the candidate assessed annually.
3. The date of determining the upper age limit, qualifications and experience shall be the
closing date prescribed for receipt of completed applications.
4. It is open to the Institute to conduct written test to shortlist the candidates for
interview in case the attendance of candidates is more.
5. Age relaxation is permissible to SC, ST & OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates and
also to physically handicapped candidate as notified by Government of India from
time to time.

6. The incumbent candidate is liable to be posted anywhere in India as per the
requirement of the Institute/Project.
7. NO TA/DA will be reimbursed to the shortlisted candidates for attending
Interview/Skill Test.
8. No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates not selected for
interview/appointment. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
9. Candidates of Indian Nationality only can apply for this post.
10. The prescribed educational qualifications are minimum required, and mere possession
of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. Where the number
of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it will not be
convenient or possible for the Institute to interview all those candidates, the Institute
reserves the right to limit number of candidates to be called for interview on the basis
of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed in the
advertisement.
11. The Institute reserves the right to cancel the entire recruitment process at any time
without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
12. The Institute reserves the right to increase/decrease the advertised vacancies subject to
requirement of the project/institute.
13. Candidates meeting the above requirements and willing to be considered for the
