Reading Comprehension: "Was-Were Story"
Last week, there was one really, really bad day. It was Monday. Usually, there are about 25 students
in my class, but that day, there were only 5 people! It wasn't warm. In fact, it was really cold. It was
raining a lot. It was dark and gray outside. There wasn't any sunshine. I think the students weren't at
school because they were sick. They were at home. Maybe they were in bed.
Mr. Jibbit is our teacher. He is always at school. He is never at home on a Monday. Last Monday was
no different. He was not in bed. He was in the classroom, and he was cold! Why was he so cold?F
That's a very good question. He was cold because the heater in the school was broken. It was
freezing. The school was like a refrigerator. Our room was like a freezer! And poor Mr. Jibbit was like
ice! The small class was cold, cold, cold!
The next days were much warmer. The heater was fixed on Tuesday, so everything was ok. There
were 25 students, not only 5. But where was Mr. Jibbit? He wasn't there. He was at home, sick in
bed!

My Flight to Canada
Last month is very special. I fly by myself for
the first time! I was a little nervous but it was
exciting. First, I taked a taxi to the international
airport terminal. Then, I checked-in at the
checked- in counter and walked to the
departure lounge at Gate B64. I was early, so I
didn’t have to wait a long time to go through
immigration and security. Then, I waited in the
departure lounge for about 25 minutes before I
got on the plane. After I boarded the plane, I
walked along the aisle
and found my seat. Then I sitted down and
fasted my seatbelt. I was lucky because my seat was a window seat, so I
could look outside as the plane takes off. After a few hours, the flight
attendants serve us dinner and then I talked to the passenger next to me.
His name was Eduardo and I was surprised to found out that he was also
travelling to Vancouver to studied English for the summer. Finally, I
watched an action movie and then our plane lands soon after that. I had a
wonderful time in Canada. It was really fun and I made lots of new friends
from all over the world. Next week, I will flied back to Mexico but I will
never forgot my time
here.
