PROJECT INTRODUCTION
This term project focuses on the structural analysis and design of a military dwelling unit using a steel frame system, in
alignment . The dwelling unit is located on the outskirts of Delhi and comprises a ground floor plus four upper stories
(G+4), with a typical story height of 3.5 meters.

LOAD CONSIDERATIONS
Live Load-3 KPa
Roof Live Load for an Inaccessible roof - 0.75KPa
Dead Load : Self Weight of the member
Super Imposed load - 1.375 KPa
Slab Thickness of M30 Concrete = 125 mm = 0.125 m
Concrete grade = M30 (but this only affects strength, not density for dead load)
Floor dead load including finishes = 4.5 kPa (from the term project)
Superimposed Dead Load (SIDL) = All floor dead loads except slab self-weight = 4.5−3.125=1.375 kPa

Wall Load :
Unit weight of AAC block: 550 to 650 kg/m³
We'll use 600 kg/m³ = 6 kN/m³ (safe and standard for design)
Storey height = 3.5 m
Wall thickness:
External walls = 230 mm = 0.23 m Internal walls = 115 mm = 0.115 m
External Wall:
Wall Load=0.23×3.5×6=4.83 kN/mWall Load=0.23×3.5×6=4.83 kN/m
🔹 Internal Wall:
Wall Load=0.115×3.5×6=2.42 kN/mWall Load=0.115×3.5×6=2.42 kN/m 11
Live Load = 4.0 kN/m² (as per IS 875)for institutionall buildings as it is a military dwelling unit I provided 2.5
