circular maw and a body built for both
lurking and lunging. Thick scales run down
its flanks, blending into the silt and mire.
Its back is covered in swamp muck, reeds,
and bits of detritus—making it nearly
indistinguishable from the marsh when at rest. Though
it lacks wings, the Muckmaw Drake is no less deadly
than its aerial cousins, using ambush tactics, brute
strength, and suction breath to dominate its territory.
Muckmaw Drake Comsat Tactics
‘The Muckmaw Drake is a deadly ambusher that
leverages waterlogged terrain to control positioning. It
waits submerged or in muddy reeds, using Bog Dive to
stay hidden until prey is close. It begins combat by
unleashing its Suction Breath to drag enemies into
melee range, often pulling vulnerable backline
characters directly to its maw.
Once in melee, it uses Multiattack to bite and tailwhip,
knocking enemies prone to prevent escape. Its Reflexive
‘Snap keeps mobile melee characters wary, punishing
reckless approach. If wounded or targeted by ranged
attacks, it re-submerges with Bog Dive to reposition and
‘wait to strike again
‘Smart players will quickly learn not to fight it near
‘water—too bad they're already waistdeep.

‘Arcana DC 15: Muckmaw Drakes are thought to
descend from black dragons who interbred with
amphibious horrors. They possess limited magical
instincts.
Religion DC 10: Some swamp cults venerate Muckmaw
Drakes as avatars of hunger or rebirth—especially
those who practice sacrificial drowning.
Survival DC 15: Tracks from a Muckmaw Drake often
appear as churned bog water and missing wildlife.
Their kills vanish with barely a ripple.
