Initial Philosophy Assignment

According to my experience as an Early Childhood Educator on placement, every child is different and

has different learning capacity. Maintaining a secure, engaging, and courteous atmosphere for the kids

to develop and explore is the main goal of my method. By expanding my understanding of inclusive

practices, child development, and effective teaching strategies via continued practice and study, my

experiences and studies over the previous several years have shaped my viewpoint.

.1. Define an early childhood educator’s role in the classroom.

To assist children's growth and play-based learning, early childhood educators are crucial. They have an

obligation to appropriately integrate the children so that they may be themselves and engage in their

education. Activities will be planned and developed by the teacher based on the interests of the children.

To promote and foster their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development, the educator will

design and construct various activities based on their developmental domain. They will establish an

atmosphere that includes both planned and unstructured activities in addition to academics. The

development of young children and their capacity to support families are significantly influenced by early

childhood educators. Families may work full-time, raise their income, and improve their children's

prospects for the future because they know their kids are in skilled hands.

. 2.Discuss the child’s role as a learner and how you think children learn best.

Through play and interactions, learning will take place. Playing with unrestricted materials will help

children learn by encouraging them to utilise all their senses to explore their surroundings. Touching,

doing, and moving are examples of direct experiences that will teach children. According to their age,

with the assistance of their parents, teachers, and classmates, they will also learn and comprehend

through sight and hearing. I see that children will be more engaged and active learners who will think

critically, participate in meaningful activities with their classmates, and be more motivated in their

studies. To help children to become confident, self-directed learners, I promote inquiry, critical thinking,

and experiential reflection via engaging activities, adaptable materials, and opportunities for group

problem-solving and critical thinking.

.3. Discuss how you would incorporate children with exceptional needs (physical, cognitive,

etc.), diversity, and inclusion in the classroom.

It is my point of view that every child in the classroom, regardless of their culture, community, or identity,

should have equal opportunity to achieve. I will also consider each child equally, regardless of whether

they have any emotional, cognitive, or physical challenges. First and foremost, I would like to provide a

setting that values diversity and considers the special requirements of children with special challenges.

The daily developmental activities that are appropriate for every child may be incorporated by me as an

ECE without causing any divisions. I can teach and utilise sign language to improve comprehension in

both spoken and nonverbal languages. Children will be able to acquire critical abilities like empathy and

compassion for others when an inclusive atmosphere is fostered, in addition to the good emotions that

are developed. A professional like a speech therapist or occupational therapist may also assist give

extra support, and I can establish beneficial, open communication with each parent to build an inclusive

atmosphere without creating any difference.

4.Describe the strategies that you would use for classroom management and conflict resolution.

My placement has taught me that the two most important aspects at a childcare facility are classroom

management and conflict resolution. In addition to the fact that each age group classroom is unique, so

are the kids. Professional competence knowledge is crucial for ECEs. I must first learn about the kids

and their hobbies in order to create a healthy learning atmosphere in the classroom. Children can feel

valued and understood when their surroundings are characterised by clear expectations and positive

reinforcement. As an ECE, I have to make sure that children are given the precise instructions they need

because if I give them too many, they won't grasp. I can thus explain things to them step-by-step.

.

As they argue with their teachers and peers, young children will always be developing their social and

emotional abilities. Children, for instance, frequently fight over toys while others are using them, and

occasionally they have trouble controlling their emotions. They also become irritated when adults set

limits. Therefore, to assist them recognise and communicate their feelings through words or clues, I

must observe to comprehend the scenario as an ECE. I will try to comprehend their emotional state and

assist them in resolving it through breathing techniques, colouring pages, and other things that divert

their attention. These experiences teach kids problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and how to

build healthy relationships—all of which will help them later.

5.Describe the family’s role in your classroom.

For early childhood education to be successful, families must actively and cooperatively participate in

their children's education and development. In my opinion, open communication and frequent updates

with parents are especially crucial throughout the learning and development of children. Teachers will

have a greater understanding of their students' hobbies, eating patterns, and sleep patterns at home

with the assistance of parents. The teacher is able to learn about the child's abilities and interests as a

result. The educator may follow up with the kids and make sure their needs are being fulfilled with the

aid of this communication. Every parent will be encouraged to actively participate in our education by me

as an instructor. By holding frequent sessions, parents and teachers may talk about their child's

development and areas for growth. This will assist the parent and teacher in creating plans and goals for

improved learning.

6. Describe the values that guide and inform your teaching and pedagogy.

Early childhood instructors, in my opinion, should treat every kid with respect and decency while also

acknowledging their individual talents. To recognise and address children's needs and emotions,

empathy is required. Every child will have an equal chance to grow and acquire experience in an

inclusive setting. Finally, in order to provide my children, the greatest education possible, I must

constantly evaluate and enhance my teaching methods as part of my dedication to lifelong learning. I
5

understand my education enables me to establish a special atmosphere with kids, parents, and

teachers, as well as to recognise and foster constructive interactions that aid in learning and future

readiness. My conclusion is that every children may thrive in a nurturing environment, based on my

experience as an early childhood educator. To foster children's development and assist them in

reaching their greatest potential, we must actively engage in the educational process, identify and

address each child's unique needs and interests, and cultivate strong bonds with families. I will

continue to use this method of thinking to guide my future teaching practices since it represents the

knowledge and experiences I have gained over the years throughout my placement.
